These numbers are based on an article written by Nathan Ellering you can Google it. I have used the research pulled from the article for my own email campaigns and a lot of it holds to be true, here are just some snippets of the research.

What is the Best Days to Send Email?

1. Tuesday: It is quite apparent from the research and my own case study that Tuesday is indeed the best day to be sending your emails.

2. Thursday: This would be the second best day to send your emails on.

3. Wednesday: This day has tied for second place with Thursday please note there is no evidence pointing that this day is special.

What is the Best Time to Send Email?

#1) 10 AM - Late mornings are usually the best time to send emails but something is very special about 10 a.m. according to studies.

#2) 8:00 PM - This specific time might be popular because people like to check their email before they go to bed (I do this ).

#3) 2:00 PM - This tends to because are looking for distractions while at work, their most likely taking a break at this time.

#4) 6: 00 AM - People like to begin their day by opening emails (I also do this )

This is just a summary if you would like to check the complete case study please Google the name I listed at the beginning of the post.

The best time is while they are on their way to work and on their way home.

Right. With a little luck, they'll peruse it while driving in rush hour traffic.

    Hi Yokolo!

Thank you for the post and the useful insights! Yes I agree, there
are certain metrics and times where it's better to mail to get the
highest Open Rates and Click Throughs from your emails...

However there is an even better approach...

What if you could get open rates independent of days
    and metrics?

Well... it's easier said than done... but this is what top online
marketers are doing... soaring open and ctr rates up to nearly
    90 %.

The key is to know your audience well... almost
better then they know themselves. That way you can
provide the die for info or solution they desperately want...

And by doing that, you just racked the flip...

From your subscribers just checking their email...

    To

Having subscribers sitting on the end of their chair...
    waiting for your next email...

That's the best way I ever learned to do it.

Hope that's a helpful tip for you all.

    Best regards from
    Ole

If you're not making this up then you will have this statistica data to hand, correct?

Please post a screenshot of your results and show us the data. It might help repair your reputation around here as a result.

I want to trust you and the advice you post here. I really do.

    Thanks!

P.S. You're still using false scarcity on your sales page. Fixing that might also help.

What many people forget is that we are from all over the world in different time zones. We are also from many different cultures. So when an article or guru tells you to mail out on Tuesdays at 10 AM, ask yourself these questions.

What time zone are we talking about?

What countries are the list subscribers from?

What cultures are the list subscribers from?

Mailing out at 10AM EST is not the same as mailing out at 10AM GMT. Now think about the peoples cultures that are on your list? Do they work Tuesdays or is this a day of rest for them?

Bottom line, if the list metrics are not shown along with the best days and times, that information is really useless to you unless your lists metrics are the same.

Always test different days and times with each list you have to see what works best. Don't just figure that what you read is correct for your lists.

Good point. If you know from what area or culture your list came from, then picking the best time to send your email is appropriate. However, this may not work well for very large lists. Thank you, Rob!

If you just happen to track the country and timezone of your subscribers you can segment your list and set the time and day to send to each segment.

Thank you for this very detailed post. It is very helpful for all of us.

I do like sending emails on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mid-week is usually a more relaxed day of the week for everyone. If we send it on a manic Monday, they will not open our emails.

I also believe people like to check their emails both in the morning and the evening, especially people in the working age groups.

  • What mostly matters is to have high inbox rate. if you set this as priority over "when do you send" I bet you'll have much better results.

Tuesday: this can be handily the #1 best day to send emails in step with the bulk of the info from these studies.
Thursday: If you send 2 emails per week, opt for weekday for your second day.
Wednesday: whereas no single study showed that Wednesday was the foremost widespread, it came in second place many times.

Most email marketing articles would claim that 8am is too early to send an email newsletter, but it works great for WordStream blasts – we get over 25% open rates with this time!

Historically, weekends are the days when folks are out running errands and going on adventures. Weekends tend to have low open rates, so most marketers avoid them like the plague.

Thanks for sharing this useful information.Conversions will greatly improve once the timing of the email is set to the time most people will be reading their emails.
