How to recycle an Email List?

I have this email (started 18 months ago). Subscribers are from a specific videogame niche which now is not very popular and most of them are not playing it anymore. The list has 2,000 subscribers.

I would like to recycle this list for other purposes, what do you propose guys?

I will give peach candies to the most original answer

Diverting your old subscribers to something new might require to start from the basics. But to speed up the process prepare a fresh introduction and write up a new call to action content that leaves a good enough first impression e.g discounts, limited time offers etc.

I would do the same thing. Let them know you have a new game to offer, and provide special discounts or privileges to entice them to subscribe. Make sure that your initial email shows them that what you are offering is something better and more exciting.

Before anything else, I think the most crucial choice for the list transition is choosing the new game. Gamers tend to be genre specific (i.e. sports gamers like other sports games, MOBA players try out other MOBA and strategy games, action gamers love other action gamers, etc.). So choose a game that is the similar to the game niche that the list was originally built for.

After that, I'll reintroduce myself and slowly transition them into the new game with emails like "remember [old game]? it's not as popular as it once was but this [new game] gives me the same thrill" or something around those words.

Then I'll do the typical cleanup routine with an "unsubscribe if you're no longer interested" email and the "reactivation" email to clean that list up.

    I hope that helps.

Send a mail with a big headline to attract people and make them open it

Write the mail where you say about the new opportunity and try to explain that it is what they're waiting for a long time.

put the link of the new OPT IN PAGE so you can have a fresh list.

I don't think recycling an old list is ever going to be a good idea.

The main reason for this is any ESP or email service provider is going to either suspend your account or drop your delivery down to next to nothing due to the high number of hard bounces that you get.

From a business standpoint for the ESP, if you have hard bounce that go over 5% or so, you have instantly become a high risk client and they are going to protect their IP reputation as best as they can, since hard bounces can damage it quite easily.

That said, if you were to run this old list through a verification company and clean it up, then there would be a purpose in trying to re-engage it again.

Without verification though, your going down a slippery slope.
