A third of my list never opens anything. How do I fix that or should I delete them?

    Just a suggestion...

    1. Take a look at your subject line. Make sure it doesn´t sound like click bait. Talk about a major problem, then your solution in the main copy. You may want to hire a copywriter that specializes in sales for this.

    2. Double check what time you send out your emails. Early morning or late evenings usually works best.

    3. Review your email schedule. If you send out emails too often to your customers they will stop opening and reading them. Try to achieve a balance that will work for you.

    4. Send out a few informational emails about your industry before you include a product or service offers to your clients.

    5. Be sure your emails are written to relate to your customers and reveal your ¨human¨ side - not sound like a door-to-door salesman.

    Hope some of that helps.

You will first have to identify the reasons why they open the email. Some of the reasons:

    1. Your email landed in their spam box. It may happen if your email content contains spam words that triggered the spam filter. You may refer this article from SendReach as a guide SPAM Words To Avoid - SendReach Autoresponder - Operational Help SendReach Autoresponder – Operational Help

    2. You sent too many email, either on daily or weekly basis. When there are too many emails, subscribers are either unsubscribed or they don't bother to open at all.

    3. For GMail users, It may landed in the "Promotional" tab which mixed up with tons of other emails. so, your don't get noticed.

    4. It could be also your subject lines. Try different subject lines and see if those subscribers (who never open your email) open up your email.

    5. Depending on where you get your subscribers from, there is possibility as well that the email address is not active or a throwaway email address. People are getting smart nowadays, they are very careful to whom they give their email address to. Some are giving fake (but valid email address) while some opt-in using their specially created throwaway email address.

    6. You built your list via solo ads. As we know the list use by the solo sellers are mostly recycled list. The subscribers are so used to get tons of email from seller and list that they opted-in to, it can be hundreds of email per day. With that volume, many will just ignore the majority of the email they received.

If you have users on your list that do not engage in any capacity within 90 days, they are likely using a throw away email that they never check or use, and they should be promptly removed from your list. It makes no sense to email people who have little to no hope of ever making you money.

  • There are some great ideas on here to boost your open rate and the only thing I would add is to make sure you are building a relationship with your subscribers. Let them know about yourself, where you've come from, your likes and dislikes etc.

The stronger your relationship with your subscribers, the less 'strategies, tricks or methods' you need to use. A strong relationship will mean they will look out for your mails.

The other thing I would mention is that some people will sign up with bogus emails and therefore you will always have a percentage of mails that are in effect dead. I personally do a bit of a purge each month, moving people who have not opened my mail in the next 3 months to a 'last chance' folder. I will then try to revive the list with free offers and if I have no response after a month will delete the addresses.

This keeps things tidy and ensures I don't have to pay any more Autoresponder fees than I have to.

    I hope this helps.

Try lessening your images, maybe use just one or two images in your email. We tried sending an all-text email, and it performed well.

I don't think it's ever possible to have a 100% open rate for your email list. No matter how optimized you make your messages, and how well your relationship with your ISP is, there will always be subscribers who don't have their images enabled in emails. These subscribers would never be tracked as an open even though they are opening your emails.
