What you want to do is feasible. There are plenty of sites that user signup to get updates. You may want to think about providing some form of a bribe, to help induce the signup.

I don't have much experience with solo ads, but the rates advertised are likely single opt-in. Also, you can't count on what they advertise, you will just need to test.

I personally wouldn't worry about double opt-in. I would provide a bribe and tell them that access will be sent to their email address. That should help reduce the potential of users entering some random address to just get access to the bribe.

I completely agree with idea of @DIABLO , almost solo ads provider sent list from IM, MMO nịche, so they dont consist with your niche .
You can buid your list by another methods ; ex: with your fanpage you even set opt-in to collect email . But I think first you should SEO your site with buyer keywords , good content with right keywords is important factor to increase traffic to site

As much as I agree that the majority of Solo Ad sellers are in the IM/MMO niche, there are people out there that do solo ads in the health niche, you will just need to do a little more digging.

With regards to the single vs double opt in, I know there is debate that rumbles back and forward about which is best. In my opinion I would always use the single opt-in, as you lose so many potentials subscribers by putting in the extra step of the confirmation (I would suggest up to half).

In addition to this, I would say an opt-in on a site, will create far less opt-ins that a dedicated 'squeeze page' that is designed to capture the subscriber. If you are sending your link to a website page, you are giving them options other than just opting in, ie clicking to another page on the site.

Therefore I suggest get a separate stand alone squeeze page to promote your 'freebie' and when you send them over the link to the free gift, give them a link to your main site.

Solo Ads are set to SINGLE OPT IN.

Double opt in makes only more noise than necessary.

If u run with solo ads you have to expect that a large percentage of your subscribers will join your list for the freebie.

The best IMHO is spread the information you give for free in a sequence of mails, so they have to open them.

And, after a while, clean your list of inactive users.

Try use Udimi for beginning.

Don't waist your time with double opt-in. The only time I would recommend it is for membership sites or critical announcement lists (when if an email does not get to the subscriber, there can be a major problem)

If you plan to do solo ad, always go with single opt-in. majority of people don't confirm their email so you would lose out there. Some list owners specifically advise solo ad buyer to use single opt-in to get best result.

Frankly, there has been decreased in quality of the list built with solo ads as people are subscribing to tons of email lists and are getting hundreds of email everyday especially in the IM niche. However, it is different in health niche, so I would expect you to get a way better results. Having said that, it requires testing and tweaking based on the initial result. Order in a smaller amount of clicks initially and tweak your email/offer accordingly before ordering more.

Solo Ads are not going to work for the type of product you are trying to sell.

I think building a list here has some merit, but you should be building it naturally or you should should be trying to bulk out sales for your product.

If you decide to build the list naturally, use it as a medium to sell your product, not to inform your customers where you have new content posted on your website.... Or perhaps you can do both in the same email. Don't lose sight of whats important, and thats making sales.

Initially my idea was simply to profit by ads on the site, so using the list to help with driving traffic.
