Autoresponders: How to optimize my workflow?

Hi,

I'm selling guided meditation audio files through my website and it's all based on an autoresponder.

My workflow looks like this:

- email 1: a customer gets it immediately after an opt-in. It includes free sample,
- email 2: just text with a goal to educate and build relationship,
- email 3: just text with a goal to educate and build relationship,
- email 4: just text with a goal to educate and build relationship,
- email 5: an offer to buy my product.

Recently I've received a feedback from one of my users. He said that he got curious after a 1st email but then lost an interest because I've made him wait too long for an another audio file. He suggested that I should send and offer a day after 1st email (free content). So my workflow would look like this:

- email 1: free content,
- email 2: an offer.

But I'm not entirely sure if this is a good idea. I'm worried that the lack of emails focused on building a relationship and giving value might cause very poor conversion when I send an offer.

I feel like my current sequence might be too long but it should look rather like this:

- email 1: free content,
- email 2: just text with a goal to educate and build relationship,
- email 3: an offer.

What do you think about it?

I think what your user meant is that he wants another goodie soon after the first one. It doesn't have to be a product offer. If I understood correctly, your email sequence should look like this:

    email 1: free content
    email 2: free content
    email 3: free content
[add more free content to build relationships as you wish]
    email 4: an offer

    Just my 2 cents.

Maybe you can compose your emails in such a way that you give them free content with text to build relationship three times, then make the offer on the 4th or 5th email.

email 1 - free audio files with information and to build relationship
email 2 - free audio files with information and to build relationship
email 3- free audio files with information and to build relationship
email 4 - free audio files with information and to build relationship
    email 5 - sales offer

Just make sure to keep them coming back for more, and not include all the information in the free content. However, be careful about cliffhangers. Make sure that the free content you provide is short but complete. This will let your recipients believe that they are not getting cliffhangers and that you are not being deliberately stingy with the free content in order to make the sale. I hope I am making sense. lol.

    Cheers!
