Are there benefits for creating eMarketing campaigns in HTML for open rates?

Hi,

Just a quick question,

I have someone who wants me to do some work for them and they are thinking of doing a HTML email template - I have someone that can create this, however I was wondering if there is any benefit to open rates for this?

I usually use pre-made templates for email marketing and I can just about find or create the perfect template for most emails, I am just interested if there is more to it when people want to create their own.

I have got a quote for this HTML email and it is about $800 - so it is quite substantial.

I know they are sending it via their website, however couldn't a pre-made template be fine for this.

Usually, most of the work I am doing is via Mail Chimp, AWebber etc so this is more a curiosity due to the expense.

Thanks everyone.

    Think about the user flow for this, emails are opened due to a combination of:
    a) the subject line;
    b) the sender is trusted/relevant; and/or
    c) the recipient is engaged with the brand.

    HTML or non-HTML is not really related to open rates and as such you might find an uplift in clicks or engagement with either but it is unlikely that the form which the email takes will affect open rates in an obvious way.

      ok, thanks for clarifying this.

      I have had a few people ask for HTML email templates lately thinking they are better than non-HTML and I really wasn't aware of whether one format was better than the other.

      As you've said if it doesn't come down to this that is good to know.

      Thanks for your comment.
