How can Newbie position himslef as an authority?

Lets say one is a total beginner in a email list building space and he or she need to position himself as an authority, so that the email list turns into "rabid buyers".

What kind of magic can be done to position newbie as an authority? Any ideas appreciated.

    none, nada, zip, zero

The common method used is fake it till you make it - but I have yet to see someone "make it" doing that. Those folks usually bluster a lot - and then disappear.

There is no substitute to learning what to do and how best to do it and knowing your subject/topic/niche well. There is no substitute for experience if you want to be viewed as an authority.

While I don't suggest any new marketer start out by telling people "I'm new" (why mention it?) - if you have to tell people you are an 'authority' - you probably aren't.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I would go a different direction.

Instead of a newbie pretending to be an authority - be a newbie who is working towards becoming an authority.

People connect to this as well to see the struggle and progress of someone learning something.

Yeah, I think you are right. People would relate to both. YouTuber Mike-from-Maine succeeded by openly being a newbie and showing his progress step-by-step.

There used to be a thread here on WF, where one member was documenting his progress in PPV affiliate sales. He maintained the story-line for about three months and got about 2,000 subscribers. By the end he became an authority, because people commended him on his persistence.

But, more I research more I find that most people, right from the gate, impose themselves as authority and press sales without any value content. For example Igor Kheifets openly teaches to push IM offers from the day one.

Either you have the knowledge/experience or you don't.

This is a perfect example of why I like promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers.

If for example you have users that are interested in getting life insurance and you send them an offer for life insurance. You don't need to be an authority on life insurance to get them to fill out the form. You don't need to have built up a relationship with them, you just need to put the right offer in front of them.

It is often mentioned that you need to build credibility and trust with your email list before they will buy from you. If you are not truthful and you mis-lead them then it is wrong. If you are indeed an authority on a certain topic then that is fine but do not pretend to be what you are not.
