If you had a 200k user email list of online business owners where would you start?

Say you have a combined email list of 200k business owners in various high tech/online businesses.

What would you do with it?

I currently own an app development company and will be using it to market some of our offerings. However, I want to hear some other options/suggestions/ideas from other users.

Would you do affiliate marketing? etc etc

    It depends on a ton of things:
    1st. Where did you get this list from. If it's a solo ad, then you will probably get no conversions. If these people subscribed for your Newsletter, through an optin, etc, then there is huge potential.
    2nd. Where do these people come from?

    I wouldn't promote affiliate offers. Instead, I would offer my products and services, if they are related.

    - First you need to scrub your list for invalid emails...

    - I would then send a survey and segment your list into several buckets, categorized by their specific needs, demographic, pain points, etc. (all based on your survey).

    - Then generate valuable content to share on your weekly email newsletters; bring them valuable content specific to their list segment profile; answer their burning questions; offer FREE solutions; while inserting your ad campaign

    - optional: start a podcast and interview other experts; partner with other experts to come to your podcast show to share their insights in exchange for their plugs;

    I would focus on my own products. Since you have an app company, you might start with something free of interest to people who fit your market. Then offer that on a squeeze page as a free gift to a segment of the list as a test. Practice interacting with the people who opt in to that new list for a couple weeks before repeating the test in shorter time frames to the rest of the list over the next few months. That way if you "blow it" on the first test, you use what you learned on the next and repeat the learning experience.

    I would start before I had the first email.

    No upfront plan is like getting in the car and following your nose.

    I run a lot of marketing campaigns like this. I would market my business to it, make sure you get the openers and clickers and then keep giving them special offers. Am sure you'll get a few leads out of it.
