My first emailing marketing experience (Made first affiliate sale)
Wanted to share a short story about my first email marketing journey I did awhile back. As you know everyone has heard of 'the money is in the list' so I decided to have a crack at it. I did started this a few months back and haven't really touched it since. Wanted to share this with people who still believe it is impossible to make money online. Keeping this plain and simple....
So here we go...
Breaking this down into three sections offer/ traffic/ conversions.
Offer:
Spent like 3 days trying to figure out the niche i wanted to dive into. I'm really into weight loss and fitness so i started with that. I sort to narrow down my niche so what I did is I went through Amazon, google and clickbank to find a niche that had potential selling power. In the end I chose weight loss for moms, I chose 7-15 hot topics also around the niche for my email topics also. I chose two clickbank offers that were fairly popular in that niche and promoted them front end and back end.
Traffic:
I wont dive into my exact source of traffic, but my budget that I had on ad traffic was $250 and it got me around 800-1000 subs. What I did is I created a small ad for desktop and mobile and turned on my traffic tap and ran it for a 2 weeks. Most of my subs came from mobile. I was getting around 120-170 mobile subs per day and 20-40 desktop.
Conversions:
I didn't have a website I just had an email list and emailed them, I setup my email sequence to email my subscribers everyday for 15 days. I wanted to see which emails performed the best. From the first email I would sell them. Most of my emails would sell to my list. In the first week I made sales! (this was my first affiliate sale which got me excited!! ) The sales I made were from sending my first initial email sending them directly to the product.
Right now I haven't really checked up on it anymore, nor do I run anymore traffic to it. It was more of a case study for myself to see firsthand if affiliate marketing worked. I'm now working on something similar and more long term. I still have the list and can still message them other offers/products.
If I could change something I would practice on copy writing, how to write engaging emails to keep my subs edging for more, it could potentially make me recurring buyers. Also be more crucial about my niche selection. Really nail down on a profitable niche.
I can see the potential of email marketing, I'm looking at building a blog around a specific topic and building my list that way. Then creating a relationship with that list. I feel having a website creates more credibility.
