Your subject is kind of a subtle suggestion of what you gonna serve up in the email....

Don't tell them what's in the email, but hint at it....in addition, attempt to allow curiosity to fuel their opening it...

there are some templates out there to use...but go to your email and see the kinds of emails that marketers in and outside your niche are sending you..and which are the kinds that you open...emulate those...

There are, of course, as many opinions on this subject as there are cell phones in the world I believe...

I prefer to use controversial subject lines that get attention rather than anything sales or commercial looking.

Often times, I will use power words with an excerpt of an actual rediculous news story that I found (there's NEVER a shortage of them out there).

For example, I saw a news headline yesterday that I swiped that was "Woman killed after tree uprooted by her homemade zip line falls on her"

I changed it to be my next email subject line around marketers doing stupid things in their business...

Subject: Stupid women, homemade zip lines and dying from falling trees

I'll come back and let you know how the response goes on that one after I send it out tomorrow.

Yeah..controversial can be kind-a cool..it definitely separates you from the multitude of other folks who are out there trying to be generic and telling folks what they want to hear...

It kind of puts a stake in the ground and yells, "I'm different...come on over here and listen to what I have to say...

it can repel some folks..but hey marketing is as much about who you repel as it is about who you appeal to....

Are your folks used to controverisal posts? do you do it often or only sometimes?
