CASL and mailchimp blast

If I have a list of businesses and their emails (about 100) who I want to contact for a link exchange. Can I use mailchimp for the delivery or is this considered spam?

    Mailchimp allows email import - you have to tick a box that everyone gave you permission to send them emails.

    So - if you have permission, you are fine and it's not spam

    If you don't have permission - technically I'd say it's spam. You can still try and get away with it. 100 emails is not so big a number
    personally - I'd do it

    what can happen: You get lots of spam complaints and mailchimp closes down your account

    The penalities from CASL are steep.
    I would try to run it ananomously, not using your real info just in case.
