Despite the fact, most auto responder software programs are just like one another, some of the best and most well-known software programs to time frame include:

1) Getresponse
2) GetResponse
3) MailChimp

Affiliate Marketing vs. Affiliate Links

We treat affiliate marketing and affiliate links differently. Affiliate marketing is prohibited under our Terms of Use, but affiliate links are usually fine to use in MailChimp.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketers are typically rewarded by a third party for recruiting customers. The reason we don't permit this activity is that there's no real obligation to care about subscriber satisfaction or to maintain a healthy e-commerce relationship with them. MailChimp isn't meant for this type of marketing.

Agree!

Would add, it's not just MailChimp.

I think MailChimp conditions on what is acceptable affiliate marketing/links are more clearer than ActiveCampaign though .

These points on their affilate link do's and dont's page I find interesting because it summarises the reasoning why these conditions came about.

~ there's no real obligation to care about subscriber satisfaction or to maintain a healthy e-commerce relationship with them
(sender is focused on how much money can make from this email sending - nothing more/nothing less)

~ we do stop campaigns that contain blacklisted URLs. [...] spam filters may block your message completely. This hurts our reputation as an ESP and negatively impacts delivery for all our users.
(shows they (and many other autoresponder providers) are looking out for themselves, protecting other users of their services and you)

~ an unrelated advertisement from another company that appears under their branding and isn't specific to your subscribers could look like spam
(main reason for considering segmenting)

Then again, I could have interpreted these conditions wrongly - who knows????

Remember, it all depends on how you go about your marketing approach. I have experienced no issues with:

GetResponse
MailChimp
SendReach

I understand that ActiveCampaign does not allow affiliate marketing, as it is against their Terms of Service

They do BUT conditions have to be met!

So you are saying Activecampaign does allow affiliate marketing? The only places I see it listed on that page are:

"Areas where an affiliate link is ok:

Adding relevant affiliate links to an email with high quality content. The affiliate links should not be the primary focus of the email.
Sending updates and information about your own affiliate program to your registered affiliates."

To me, that isn't really affiliate marketing? Or am I missing something?

  No you are not.
  I have used aweber for affiliate marketing, but I cloak all the links or use redirects from my own page, because there are links that aweber doesn't allow.
  Frankly, I don't know which. But I have heard of aweber accounts being closed down for just including the wrong link.

I'm not saying so BUT ActiveCampaign is - with conditions!

Your latest reply shows that you too read their allowed affiliate linking conditions and I think that their DO's and DONT's could be better explained with brief examples of what is and what isn't allowed.

I would say it is because I agree that 'affiliate links should not be the primary focus of the email' and the email content should be; leaving the affiliate link (CallToAction click) to be the decider whether to click and seek the BUY button or not.

Say this because as your content has convinced/shown the reader enough, they cant wait to purchase rather than clicking your aff link and letting a sales page do all the 'talking' instead.

Also, I interpret that condition to be having more than two affiliate links in your promotional email. Excessive affiliate links can be seen as 'primary focus'. Could be a wrong interpretation though.

What's your take on what is 'real' affiliate marketing?

BTW: I use AWeber not ActiveCampaign

When It comes to autoresponder for Affiliate, List building or the product creation
My recommendation
1) Sendlane (Created by Marketer like us)
2) Get Response (Good for newbies clean User interface)

From what I've seen Getresponse is one of the better companies and is also very affiliate friendly.

Getresponse is affiliated with Warriorplus and they seem to API's that are more easier to setup & use to connect automatically add customers to lists when they buy through Warriorplus & JVZoo.

I use Aweber and I like it. However when I look on Warriorplus it looks like it is more difficult to connect Aweber to Warriorplus to automatically add customers to a list on Aweber when they buy through Warriorplus or JVZoo.

It also appears that iContact & Mailchimp are affiliate friendly.

If I were you, I'd just stick to GetResponse or Aweber if you arent mailing with too much volume. If you have a larger list and mail a bit more aggressively then getting a self hosted solution might be your best bet!

Just use aweber.
They are newbie friendly, always responsive, and their support is very friendly and helpful.
If you're making under $100k, go with aweber.
If you're making over $100K, stick with aweber (or not).

No need to debate, it's just a good platform. Been using it for years.
