Why do not hire a native speaker?

    1. Depends on what you're selling/the market you want to get into
    2. Is there a possibility to hire a native speaker?
    3. Look for trustworthy business advice of businesses from your country breaking into their market (for example, here in the UK, we have help from UKTI and government run advisors.)

I am pretty sure that in Japan, they teach you English when you start to go to school so I don't think that you will have a problem with getting new customers.

Probably wide open over there. Just go for it and do not make it more complicated than it is

I would look for marketers already marketing to the Japanese market. Look for forums concentrating in your niche with their market in Japan. Do some thorough research and form some relationships with active players. You could look on Linkedin and find people who bring something to the table that you could possible JV with.

You should have a local representation if possible, someone who can help you navigate any unforeseen obstacles and explain all contract provisions and terminology. Avoid embarrassing misunderstandings by getting a native speaker to translate your marketing offer. Also, make sure your offer is location-specific.

Definitely hire a translator/cultural guide. I've been to Japan and trust me, hardly anyone speaks English.

Online translation tools are still pretty poor - I know a lot of the Chinese language and Google translate makes a terrible job of translating English.

Also there are vast cultural differences - for a start Japanese websites look a lot different to ones aimed at a Western audience.
