How to Build an Email List for Free?

Are there ways to build a list for free? I believe there are some hosted opt-in forms or landing pages that can be used. Then traffic sent to them.

Anybody tried something like this and gotten good results?

You would have to find the free landing page hosting sites, not too sure about any. Then you would have to make a presence on forums and social media, once people listen you can send them to your landing page. The only free autoresponder I can think of right now up to 1,000 subs is mailchimp.
Good luck! Remember it's all about providing value and people will start to listen.

You might also consider setting up Facebook fanpages and groups.

Then find those related to your niche, liked and commented frequently on them.

After some time, post a friends' requests to like and join your fanpage and group.

After which provide more valuable content.

And then your link to wherever and whatever you want to direct them to.

That's not list building. That's scraping email addresses of people who have no idea who you are and did not agree to let you email them.

I think the OP is talking about setting up a squeeze page and sending traffic to it. If people choose to opt-in to your list, then you can email them. It's called permission based email marketing.

I would never just collect a bunch of email addresses from anywhere and start emailing them.

What would you use to email all of these people? Your Gmail account?

    Yeah it can be done.

Blogger is free, Listwire is free, Wishpond has a free LP, and you can get traffic from SEO, Web 2.0, etc.

But it's going to take you a long, long time to get profitable. Plus it's hard to scale.

    ... But it's possible.

You could set up fanpages in FB. If you don't know how to you could hire someone on fb. Also join groups in fb. This is all free traffic. Add value to your posts.

I think this would be depending on your ability to drive traffic, can you drive the traffic for free?
Most autoresponders will cost money as well (I believe Mailchimp is free up until a certain amount, but they have many restrictions)

what i have seen the most is people enjoy the free gifts when they sign up. Simply having a sidebar opt-in isn't enough. You want to give your subscribers a link to a page detailing your offer, which they can pass on to friends, family etc.

You could try writing some articles with some long tail keywords. If they are low competition, you could rank those quite high on the search engines. You can use kwfinder to do your keyword research. Search volumes 500-1000 per month would be good to start driving traffic to an opt-in form. I believe Sean Mize, who is an authority on article writing has quite a good course on this.

You can use forums to get traffic, but it takes time to build a list for free, provide value on the forums and people will opt in in to your landing page. Landing page is the tool that you must have in order to collect those emails.

Make as many lead magnet pages as you can. Videos, Free offers, webinars, etc. What ever your niche is, become the expert. Don't forget to have a lead magnet page on each webpage. Think about what you can call these webpages. I use blogger to get indexed but you can use various sources. Also a little secret I like to share with my list is to redirect your free offers to clickbank offers. That way you can earn some possible affiliate commmission as well as add the new email address to your autoresponder for later follow up.

  • There are a lot of ways: SEO, social media marketing, and through content marketing. If you will build your own list, have a good decent website with great content on it. You can use autoresponder services such as Aweber or Fluttermail. There are also good squeeze page creator that you can use like LeadPages or Affilotheme for Wordpress.

Yes there are, you just need to focus on free traffic methods.

Finding a free landing page creator I'm not sure. If there's no charge, where's the support?

You can always go to fiverr and ask someone to create you a wordpress landing page but you'll need your own site for this which means paying for hosting.

If you want a cheap landing page creator and auto responder, sendlane is good (not I'm not an affiliate). I checked them out yesterday and it seems quite good.

    I'll be using them soon.

    Hello, daronch
I think first you must create your free gift such as e book (more than 50 page is better), video course etc, that you can create your own or hire other people in fiverr.com or elance.com that about some thing valuable or solve your prospect problem.
Second, create e mail autoresponder like mailchimp that other recommend to you with landing page or optin page and might be contain link to download your free gift.
Third, Set up follow up email to build relationship with them and offer product or service to your prospect.Follow up e mail that you will send to to your prospect migh be 3 valuable content letter : 1 Sale letter.
Lastly, drive traffic to your free optin page
    such as
    -Social media
-Facebook Ads (If you have a little butget $10-20 per day I recommend because you can set about characteristic of your niche such as age, gender,hobbies,...)
    -Search Engines
    -Forums
    -Video marketing

    And Let's earn money.

I hope this is helpful for you.

    Yes, FeedBurner, Google owns it.
    • Is it the best? No.
    • Is it free? Yes.
    • Can you make money with it? Yes.

If you have a Wordpress blog you can use a free plugin to build a squeeze page... Mailmunch now gives you that option. It's not free, but you can get an xyz domain or a .us domain or something like that for under a buck at Namecheap, and get hosting at Namecheap for under 10 dollars a year. That's certainly good enough if a landing page is all you want.
