Hello,

I was wondering what the CPA should be for building a list using adwords in the weight loss niche? I have a few keywords with CTR around 10-20% and get between 5-10 sign up a day.

I also use double opt in and about half the people signing up do not confirm. Is that normal? Thanks

I would stop using Adwords immediately. You should be giving away something for free and building your list that way.

    I would use single opt-in.

Just make it clear that whatever you are giving away will be emailed to the subscriber. That will cut down people entering fake emails thinking they can get access to it without a valid address.

As to acceptable cost per lead/subscriber. This depends on what your average lead revenue is and how much of it you are willing to spend to acquire.

So for example, if you make on average $1000 per 100 leads, then your lead value is $10. So how much of the $10 are you willing to spend to acquire the subscriber.

However, I left out of the equation the time factor. This for you to decide. But a good time frame is 30 days. So what is your average 30 day lead revenue value for example?

      Thanks for the answer.

Without double opt-in I can't know which sign up is a bot and i've gotten quite a few in the past few days. Is there a way to block them or make it harder for them?

As for the revenue I'm not there yet I'm just trying to build a list for the moment, I guess I should look right away at products/services to promote to know exactly how much I should be spending.

As you are offering something free then they must give their valid email to receive the gift. So, if you use single opt-in the conversion rate will be much higher than double opt-in. But yea its true you are getting some high quality leads through double opt-in but its true as well that you are loosing a few subscribers too.

besides, you can use solo ads from reputed solo ad sellers and a few free traffic methods as well so you can adjust your cost and get more subscriber in your niche.
