Hello,

Can someone explain how I can disable double opt-in on Aweber.

I followed this instructions, but I don't have these on/off buttons.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Just look for disable confirmation un the Settings for your campaign. Or switch to GetResponse. Some times you have to request single optin with Aweber.

  • I highly recommend you to use double optin because:

    1. It prevents people from subscribing false or malicious addresses to your list
    2. It gives you proof that all subscribers did request your information, and protects you from false spam complaints.
    3. As an ISP standard for managing mailing lists, it ensures the best possible deliverability for your messages

All the detail and data are copied from help section of aweber and i highly recommended you to follow it if your traffic is mainly from "Soloads"

Well, I think that the double opt-in is not good idea for PPC traffic. In that scenario the price of a single subscriber will be much much higher than usual..

Here is the message I received from Aweber customer support team..

"Before we can allow you to disable the confirmation message, we need to see further usage of the account, first. Once we see that you have been using the account and have stats to track, we can look into disabling the confirmation message for you."

    So what now?

You may need to ask Aweber support to enable your ability to turn off confirmation.

  • "Always Use Double-Opt In to Build Your List"

Keeping it super-simple when someone enters their email address to sign-up to your list they may be added immediately (single opt-in) or they may be sent an email confirmation they have to open, read and click to confirm they want to subscribe to your list (double opt-in).
There are lots of reasons for this.

For one, lots of people make up fake email address which might actually be someone else's real email address. I'm guessing that the real johndoe@gmail.com and anybody@hotmail.com are getting a hell of a lot of emails they didn't ask for.

The second reason is that not every website makes it clear what you are signing up for. A website might ask you to enter your email address to get a free report but doesn't tell you about the email they will send you every day.

All of this leads to spam complaints and that's a serious issue. The double opt-in system -- using an email confirmation -- helps get around this and protects you and your auto-responder company from getting on the wrong side of legislation.

    There is a Downside :

Not everyone -- even those who genuinely want to be on your list -- gets or opens, or clicks on the link in your confirmation email.

    In a nutshell...

With single opt-in you can build a bigger list faster BUT have the additional risk of unhappy subscribers who may (or may not) complain and give you grief. And that -- my friend -- is why every man and his dawg tells you to use double opt-in.

But that doesn't make it a good (or profitable) business decision. The key is in testing whether single or double opt-in lists work best for you, your business and your subscribers.

Never forget about your subscribers. Are you getting better results (ie. Making more money) from building bigger lists faster using single opt-in subscribers or do you get better results from a smaller but more qualified and interested group of people who took the time and effort to double opt-in?

No one can really make that decision for you.

    Cheers
