Promoting products within content emails or separate emails?

EMAIL MARKETING

Wondering what everyone's experience has been with promoting products within a normal content email vs having separate emails dedicated to product promotion? Or is this something that varies and I should just split test? Niche is investment products.

How often are you sending emails? If you're sending a few times a week I would do 2 for content and 2 for product promotion. Then throw in one for testimonials.

Depends on the niche and the style of your follow up sequence. I have many different lists in many different niches. In some of these, my follow ups are story telling with the occasional ps. product drop like sarevok mentioned. Other lists are product offers pretty much exclusively. There is a lot that goes into building the right type of email follow up for the type of list your building. Direct offers get more sales but also more unsubscribes. Content/story emails get less sales but more connection with list building longer relationships.

Investment niche is used to being pitched.... a lot. If you aren't their trusted advisor, your recommendations don't mean much. I would think in this scenario content/connection emails get you more long term customers

My personal opinion, as long as your emails are worth reading ie interesting/useful/entertaining, I would always include a link for them to click.

The key is the quality of the emails you send.
