Hello

I have a Email list of a few K...and its building as the days go...

BUT my issue is the cleaning...many email senders don't want a bounce rate over 2%....

So where do you guys recommend me to clean it? Some websites charge A LOT for 10-50k list..some less etc...

yea, downloadable software can remove hard bounces, you will need a list of non blacklisted proxies for better validation. all those software can not validate Yahoo emails. but they does a decent job.

The could list hygiene does a very good job, but they can get expensive. if you are pretty sure about the list you using. it worth the investment.

I personally use my own IPs to clean old data. it takes a while to clean large lists, but its a very cheap way and the results are very clean list.

I'm thinking of coding a list scrubbing tool. Do you know what methods are used? So far I'm thinking

    DNS look up of domain
Obvious fake emails (swear words, invalid)
    Duplicates

What else do these tools do?

Another way you can do is to buy an email front end and connect it with SMTP's.

What will happen is, it will help you in sending emails and eventually gives you those data which are not giving you soft and hard bounce.

That data you can use in your warmed up panel.

That's the cheapest way i am using too.

Captain obvious here... why not send out an email to the entire list?

Give them a week to open the email or delete them from the list.

It's ridiculous to pay a 3rd party to clean a list when all they're going to do is send out an email to your list and steal your list while you pay them money.

If you buy data it is standard practice to have it cleaned.

Also if you have data and it is not fresh you would want to clean it as well. Some data can become undeliverable (bounces) and some could get converted to spam traps. Which you don't want to mail either.

Just like the myth that buying data is bad, the same goes for if you have your list cleaned, it will get stolen.

      1. Make sure the list is opt-in.
      2. The list might be outdated from time to time. You can use MailboxValidator.com to clean and remove those invalid account.
      3. Make sure your email contents has no spam keywords.
      4. Start sending the email using clean IP address that has not been blacklisted.
      5. Your bounce rate should be less than 2% if you follow steps 1) to 4).
Your hard bounce rates should be far lower then 2% if your mailing on clean ips.
It should be under 0.25% if you don't want to do damage to your IP reputation.

To: mikec2010 & ProducerK - You're offering good advice but it's not all accurate.

Hard bounced emails are 100% caused by the email address. Hard bounces only happen if you send to an email address that does not exist. Soft bounces happen for a variety of other reasons and don't have the same severe consequences are hard bounces.

The rest of what you shared is good advice though if you're talking about **Deliverability*** of which bounces are just one factor.

Your bounce rate should be lower than 2% if you're following all best practices and keeping invalid emails off your list. A list that is clean today won't be clean next month. If you send to the list regularly you can remove bounces as you go along when you see them. If you have a list that hasn't been sent to in a while (more than 3-6 months) then you will definitely have Invalids.

To have a clean list of emails you will need to :
    1. Avoid spam traps
    2. Avoid toxic domains
    3. You will need to find an app to remove potential emails that have a history of marking emails as spam.
    4. Remove from your list temporary emails.
    5. Use a clean IP address.

I used Zero Bounce and I got a bounce rate of <0.1%.

Cleaning your email list is a critical aspect of successful email campaigns. You want to ensure that the contacts on your list, whether opted-in or cold, are valid.

It might be difficult to find a free solution. I'd check out BriteVerify or FreshAddress, just to name a few.

I'd also contact your email sending platform as they might have a built-in solution.
    Hope that helps!
