30k + visitors p/m, email conversion is 0%, any advice please?!

The 'offer' is non existent.

I don't get chance to know if this site has anything to offer over and above other sites I'm subscribed to.

I can get this content pretty well anywhere can't I? Is there something great/different on the site that I am missing?

It is just general news.....I can get that anywhere so . . . . . you'll have to focus on a particular branch of news if you are to get any interest.

Who is the site aimed at?

I get a 40% double opt in rate on my website. I like to think it's because I have something of value in exchange for their email. See Sig for website.

But I do not see the point on subscribing to read news weekly, is like reading a newspaper from yesterday, but worse...

I think you should think of a better proposal for your potential readers:

- News / Weather Alerts
- Offers
- Weather Alerts
- Special weekly reports (like how a new has being develop, like a story ).

I think that the main mistake you make is that you offer a repetition of some news that they already have in front of them without having to subscriber. To increase your subscribers you need to:
1. Keep the pop up. Offer something free: an ebook, a coupon code for something, a link to a CPA offer, etc. that you will present as "exclusive", "great", "ultimate".
2. Look for a CPA offer of a widely liked product: contests for cell phones, computers, etc. and create an autoresponder series at your email for it.
3. Check your analytics and find the categories that your visitors like most. Create a conversion and combine their interests with the conversions you get from them: the answer must be there. Add to your Newsletter ads of products related with your subscirbers' interests.
4. Use Adsense to monetize it.
5. Check the origin of your visitors --state, city-- contact retail shops at it and offer to them ad space or paid articles.

There are hundreds of things you can do to make money from your site.

Your subscribers are not the right fit for your offer. This is for sure. So much clicks and 0 conversion is impossible. Please test a different or several offers to make it work

Mustapha - Why have you got well over 100 media files on your website?

Restrict to the best 5-10 why? Because each file eats into your loading page speed, example if one file = 0.3 seconds to load then it will take over 30 seconds to load all of them. That is without taking into effect the CSS's and heaps of JavaScripts. Lose the amazon advert, your audience is not that great, when it is include by all means.

Basically Google wants to see any website loading in under 0.4 seconds, yours is a very large barge pole away, hope it helps yeah!

That's what I don't like about websites with that type of content. It's hard to target one particular persons and their interest because of the range of broad topics on the site. So I think you should select which "type" of person you want to market to who comes to your website and just talk to them when signing up to your newsletter. For example, I would offer a free gift to sign up to the newsletter to a person interested in the finance news, and then pitch money type of offers to them while still sending them my money focused only stories. Or if it's celebrity news, I would offer some free product that those type of people would like and then pitch them vain type of offers in my newsletter like beauty, makeup, fashion, etc. while at the same time you will be sending them your regular newsletter so they keep coming back to your website. Better yet, I would have several different newsletters all on different news topics that can plug into making money later on the backend. I would place the appropriate newsletter to the related topic. Hope this helps.

Of course you should offer something to them. Nobody is going to give you their email address for free. The first question your visitors will unintentionally ask is "What's in it for me?"

Just offer something valuable, easy no ?
Forget ebook OR give 5 ebook for 1 email adress, that should work if your ebook touch your visitors..

You know online sales tech, how to promote, create urgency, social signals etc... ?

Is your website WOW ?

or in short, learn the online sales tech...

three things I can suggest you that work great for me.
1. Use popups with Catchy Headlines.
2. offer some freebie in exchange to their emails.
3. Use landing page to capture emails

Thanks mikipatel94, in fact I am confused on what thing may I offer, as i told cartks, I will try to divide the list into groups of the most active topics, I may need at least 5. each with something to offer.

Thank you Vsingh, as I said, this may take some time to learn, my audience is not that great, I am trying all the time, change headlines, colors, etc.. used a bottom bar, still not working, they have several interests, most of them come to read news and leave..

You could try offering some sort of free download in exchange for their email address... It all depends on what you're selling/promoting/sharing etc. and who your audience is. My best advice would be to do some in-depth research.

What problem are you solving for them? Your lead magnet and opt in page should be "selling" the idea that you are solving something for them. Not sure if your news thing is doing that. People will not want to join your list or buy from you if you are not helping them solve something. It is great (and necessary) to give information, but it needs to lead to a place where they feel you can help them. Think of some of the problems that are addressed in your niche. What is their biggest struggle? How can you fix it fast? Build a lead magnet and opt in form around this idea and you will see a big increase in your conversions and sales.
