How to come up with Email subjects?

Hi fellow email marketers,

How do you come up with Email subject lines? There are examples of good subject lines listed on many blogs, but do you just randomly come up with or select one from a list? I feel like this is a time-consuming task but does not yield good ROI (mainly because I'm not good at it). Do you also A/B testing these subject lines?

You can subscribe to some of your competitors and some marketers email list
and get some good ideas from there how to come up with a good subject line.

Always random... Often times, the quicker you can think of something the better.. You know your market... My suggestion would be to wait until your email is written, skim it one last time, and in a broad sense come up with 2 or 3 words that summarize what that email is about. Have fun with it.

I can spend at least 5 minutes coming up with subject lines just based on what I see in this thread.
