How many sales per 1,000 emails do you guys get?

Just curious how many sales you make per 1000 people on your list? Just on an average mailing.

So if your list is 10k and you make 10 sales per mailing that's 1 sale per 1000 people on your list.

I'm just curious to see the variations in peoples lists.

It depends on many things . when i started online i used to have a list of 2000 subscribers.
But most of the time no sales, zero!.
I did not know how to copyright and treat the list so my open rate was like 8%.

      @bizopboost,

If the open rate was 8%, would I be right if I assume that these subscribers were acquired indirectly from somewhere else and not directly from your website?

Agreed! It depends on your niche, on your email-list quality, on the type of product you need to sell, on customer lifetime value etc.

If all emails collected are unverified - it is loooow open rate and no sales.
If all emails collected from randomly niches - same.
If all emails collected to sell one product - they could be useless to sell another.

Standard conversion rates for email marketing should be in the 1-2% range.

Hi, I also noticed that the open rate is rather low when using email marketing. Could be due to the subscribers are busy or they only open selective ones. Hence, marketers kept sending the same stuff using different strategies to attract or increase open rate. In other words, we got to grow our email list and establish relationships to help people before they are convinced to convert. We ask ourselves these questions - do we open all mails and which are the ones that really make us want to access to find out more?

That really depends on the quality of your subscribers and how well you talk to them. it can even be higher than 10% for 1000 subscribers if you feed them with value

    I always got 2% conversion.

And trying to optimize the system, so i can push that number become bigger.

I would expect that i can get 5% or 10%. That's my goal and i have a plan for that.

I have a list of about 1.700 subcribers and i got more than 50 Sales alreay. Few trial recurring products

And i feel like the sales still keep coming. This is Awesome!

I'd be VERY happy with 2%! I started collecting emails about 4/5 months ago and I've got a 7k list but haven't actually sent them anything yet. I'm getting about 120 double opt ins a day now, so I can't wait to start emailing my list. Main problems so far are actually finding products of value so I'm thinking of making my own.

for the life of me I can not understand why people do this. you should have at least a short sequence of emails ready to go when someone signs up. then you should send blasts a couple of times a week or just keep adding to the sequence so everyone gets the emails.

by not communicating with your list as you build it you have probably lost a good number of those that have signed up already

          Yeh I know...I know....

I was just focusing on growing a brand so I have as many optins daily as possible. I'm in a lucky position where all these leads are free from SEO/direct visitors and I'm not desperate for money because I'm still in my 9-5.

Now is the time for mailing at last :-)

I remember, a few years ago I read a message here... One forum member (I forgot his name) wrote, he had a list of 50 real estate agents.
Every time he sent a message he got almost 100% open rate. Not sure about sales. Maybe, sales was not his number one priority.
    So, it depends.

Here's some actual figures for you.

These are from a third 'not opened' email to a fairly general list.

A 9% 'open' rate and an 'open to sale' rate of 5.89%

    I hope that helps.

    Hi guys,

I am following Anik's Singal Inbox Blueprint system to email marketing. I am in the personal development niche.

My list is currently over 1,000 subscribers and I am promoting affiliate offers from Clickbank. I've done marginal sales so far.

Here is what I am doing. I was hoping someone more experienced would point out what I am doing wrong as I am very dissatisfied so far:

    1. I have a site (www.onlineschoolofwealth.com) with a very clear opt in page. Conversions are pretty good at 80% but minimum traffic. I do SEO and promote content through my emails.

    2. I pay for traffic through solo ads on clickonomy. I get plenty of unsubs after a few days so I'm wasting money on bad traffic. I stopped buying for now until I figure out a different way.

    3. After they subscribe to my list, I start building a relationship right away. 10 days of autoresponders and then emails 5 days / week. I mix it up, content, quizzes, stories, promotional offers every 3rd email.

    4. Open and click rates are pretty good, even though they dropped recently. Perhaps of more bad traffic I acquired or they simply got bored.

I hear other people having amazing results and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I asked some people and they mentioned that you can have consistent profits at a 10k list.

    Is this true?

Do you guys have some words of encouragement? I followed everything to a T and I constantly keep learning and improving things.

    Should I keep going?

    Thanks very much

      Your site is dreadful.

      It has no headline.
      No Benefit.
      No 'value proposition'

I'm afraid it takes a bit more effort than this to step into the arena of Internet Marketing and hope to make a living.

Do you really think your site can compete with all the other sites offering the same material?

Hey Diane. An 80% opt-in is excellent so the capture
page you used must not be the problem. If they are
landing on your onlineSchoolOfWealth page after
opting in, I can certainly understand why they
      are unsubscribing shortly after.

I'm guessing you made the website yourself. I think
you should go to fiverr and pay someone to build you
a proper webpage so it looks professional.

Also, your domain indicates there will be information
about wealth, but the first thing you see on the page
is an ebook to the Law Of Attraction, which falls under
      the personal development/spiritual category.

If you're going to give away this ebook, you need to
have some content on your page about wealth. Give
your visitors what they expect. Does your capture
page promote wealth or is it a generic page?

Use a smaller image for the ebook. The one on the
webpage is too large. Also, the images at the bottom
do not let your visitors know what 's behind them.
They're just told to click on an image to learn more.

People need information. If they have to guess what
you're promoting, they will leave. If you have a designer
fix your page, you should get better results.

You are asking the wrong questions. # of sales is meaningless. This business is about making money not sales. If I said I got 100 sales from every 1000 what does that mean? Is that better than 1 sale out of 1000? impossible to answer unless you know the amount you are making.

Measure results from either $earn per subscriber or EPC.

I have a list that is around 220,000. I get 7-8% overall CTR (about 35%open). So for every email I send I get 15,000+ clicks to whatever offer I am running. EPC is what I look at. IDC how many sales I get as long as the epc is good cause I can control the # of clicks somewhat.

    hope this helps

It depends on your list. A few days ago I designed a quality template and collected 2000 niche related emails. After sending the email got 40 sales.
So, I think email template is very important to get more conversion.

I would like to ad some thing into the discussion, I have around the 12K mark in subs and have a great relationship with the various lists i have

The one thing I never did was spam them at the start and I nurtured them and train them, so I have a very healthy bank balance because of it

IMHO I think some of the teachings now are out of date and people are more in tuned to either delete emails or report them into spam or unsubscribe

And to the OP you have get in now and set some relationships up with the list or you will be paying a lot of execs AR fees every month

    Just my 2c

You can't ask a question like that and expect to get a certain answer to use as an example for your own list.

Everybody's email list is different. Some people may have more engaged subscribers than others.

EX. Bob might have a list of 1,000 and get 50% sales, meaning he get 500 buyers every time he promotes. (pretty engaged list)

    on the other hand

EX. Mary might have a list 1,000 and gets only 100 buyers every time she promotes. (list less engaged)

Now that doesn't mean that Mary's list is less engaged in general, it might only mean that not all of the engaged people on her list wanted the product she was promoting.

So you can see, that you can't really depend on other peoples list variations to compare to your own, to get an accuarate ratio.

But I understand where you are coming from. Sometimes it helps to see what's happening with others list to give you an idea, but you also must remember if you are going to relate there's with your own list, you need to make sure you are in the same market.

    Just throwing my 2 cents

    Here is my 2 cents.

I know your list a little as we spoke earlier today as per your request.

You really need to start engaging your list and providing value to them.

Then, with your skills, I would create my own products 100%. That's where the money is at.
