Hello all,

I am currently trying to purchase an email list off a vendor called Exact Data. Now after seeing mixed reviews, I wanted to ask some of you your thoughts on buying lists.

Specifically, I am looking for teacher emails.

Would Exact Data be a good fit for this?
Would purchasing lists from any company be worth it?

I am totally new to this so any advice would help.

Thanks!

I think you will find that most people on this forum will tell you purchasing lists is a very bad idea.

I am one of the few people on this forum who will say purchasing lists is a good idea, of course if you have the right systems in place to clean it, manage it, and inbox it.

Purchasing data does come with some level of inherent risk to it, but nothing that cannot be by some simple cleaning and verification prior to mailing.

As for Exact Data, I have never dealt with them directly, but have read the mixed reviews as well.

    Hi justinlozano,

I highly recommend you to not "purchase for email list" because you have no control where they are coming from, what's their interest or you even don't know these email are fake or not....

Let's create your high converting funnel and drive traffic to collect data by yourself.

    Best of luck.

I appreciate everyone's help! Thank you all! After reading horrible reviews about all of these companies I am going to stick to my gut and not go forth with it.

Just so you know, I dont think every single data company is bad.
There are some good ones as well.
There is just a lot of stuff you need to do in order to mail purchased data successfully.

    Don't do it.

You won't be a happy camper.

But, it's your money, so whatever floats your boat.

So, when you're pissed that you did it later, remember what I said.

    Hi Justin,

The question to ask yourself: why did these people sign up for the email list?

Did they sign up for Justin Lozano's kick butt content?

If not, bad idea, almost every time. Because a purchased list has a subscriber base with all types of motivators, none of which was to sign up for your content.

Best course of action? Get a super pre-qualified, targeted, hungry list by running a blog, offering free, helpful content. Then it'll be a quality list that buys your stuff and hires you, or, prospers you according to your services.

I'm always amazed at how many will just flat out say to NEVER buy an email list. I have little doubt that most just read it and now just preach it as if it's the truth.

Most of the time, your not buying someone else's list. You are usually buying email data that has been aggregated in some way.

I've been buying data for over 17 years and have done EXTREMELY well doing it. However, it's my business model and I know how to monetize data and do it well.

By no means am I saying it's for everyone and for some building their own opt-in list may very well be the better approach. But at the same time, it is far from something you should never consider.

    You can do it.
Don't forget to follow can-spam guidelines while sending offer emails.

The thing that I wonder is; how many times has that data been sold and re-sold before it gets to you?
