Facebook Ads, Hot Leads and Email list

Are hot leads and warm leads leads that have given their emails?
I am currently following a program that teaches affiliate marketing and, in it, it says that we have to advertise on Facebook using a bait (Ex. Free eBook, Free pdf, free video) and that, to get the ebook, they have to go to an opt-in page where they submit their email to our email list in order to have access to that free video or ebook or pdf. Do somebody understand what he is trying to do with this? I don't understand what is the purpose of these ads, could somebody explain it?
The guy also says that after the free video, they could get to a page or they could get an email or a sequence of emails which will sell them something related to the ``bait``.
Is it a good idea to do that or am I misunderstanding something, because I don't understand why would you ask a hot lead or a warm lead, which are people that are on your email list as I understand (maybe I am wrong here), to give you its email a second time?

Sounds like what you need to do is some reading in this email section (moved your question to this section)

Specific questions about a 'program' you are taking should be directed to those providing the program.

Asking for a second (or third or fourth) 'signup' to get a freebie can be a way to segment a list or to get the 'warm and hot' leads on different email lists that target a variety of product sales.

    Very simple example:

    1. You are building a list selling pet food and supplies

    2. You offer a free video on 'dog training' to that list and those who sign up to receive the free video are now ALSO on your list where you can sell 'dog training' and 'training equipment' products.

    3. Then you send a freebie about 'traveling with pets' and those who sign up for that freebie are now on a list where you can promote pet friendly hotels, pet friendly car accessories, pet hiking gear...etc.

From a general 'pet supplies' site you could be building lists that target horse owners, cat lovers, dog and ferret owners. Your first signup is the widest part of your 'funnel' and from there you can tighten the niche and often have the same 'warm or hot' leads on several lists promoting different products. Make sense?

That's a simplistic explanation and I'm sure others here may have better answers

Thank you, appreciate it, I still have a couple questions about it, your answer clarified but it also lead to more questions,
I didn't ask the guy who's giving the course because he is not on this platform

Before they're in the email list, are they all considered cold leads? If not, how do we differentiate them when targeting (I mean selecting an audience for Facebook ads) and how do we differentiate in the copywriting, would the copywriting be the same as the other times, I mean would it be like what I've written below, do you have anything to add for the copywriting of the rest of the Ads (I mean in the parts other than the headline)?

Because, the guy teaching in the course didn't say there was a third or fourth signup, I mean, he was talking about how to get traffic to our email list and he went explaining the copywriting of the 3 types of leads and I thought about the fact that warm and hot leads were already on the list, he also used the same bait for the 3, so I am wondering if there is a way to differentiate hot leads from warm leads from cold leads before they get in the email list or if they are all considered cold before they enter the list?

And what would your explanation be, knowing he used the same bait for all the Ads (because like I said, he didn't talk about second and third signups/Ads/opt-in, that was what I believed he meant because warm leads and hot leads are already in the email list, is this what he meant?), I mean your explanation for the initial post I did, knowing that he used the same bait for all the Ads and knowing there was no website involved and knowing he didn't talk about this strategy at all and knowing everything I am explaining in this reply?

What defines exactly a lead? What is a hot lead? What is a warm lead? What is a cold lead? I mean did they all give their email, are they all in the same stage in following/liking/subscribing to our social media pages and channels?

What could be a pre-frame wall, I know it serves the purpose of getting the leads set-up for the opt-in but where could it be and what could it be?

After them getting the freebie, is it better to directly send them to a webpage where they could buy our affiliate offer or is it better to send them an email sequence where we will nurture the lead and then sell them something or just sending one thank you email with the affiliate offer in it or is it better to send a thank you email and then, the same day sending an email that promotes an offer? In other words, what is best to qualify the buyer with a low ticket item?

Here are the types of copywriting he said about Facebook Ads headlines

Hot leads: Know you and that your product can satisfy their desire. (EX. YOUTUBE SUBSCRIBERS & EMAIL LIST)
      Type of copywriting:

-Product should be in the headline
-Ex. Escape the 9-5 by discovering the three investing secrets revealed in ''Money: Master the Game'' by
      Tony Robbins

Warm leads: Know you but are not aware of your product, just the desire
      Type of copywriting:

-Desire should be in the headline
-Ex. ''Escape the 9-5 by discovering the three secrets to retire you faster''

Cold leads: Not aware of what they seek, but they are concerned with the general problem
      Type of copywriting:

      -Headline starts with problem
-Ex. ''Are you tired of being underpaid for your efforts, having a boss over your shoulder, and working countless hours? Here are the three secrets that will help you escape this.

According to your post "The guy also says that after the free video, they could get to a page or they could get an email or a sequence of emails which will sell them something related to the ``bait``.

    "

The purpose of building an email list build relationship with your target audience and sell them stuff that they will benefit.

If the person teaching you affiliate marketing says you should send your subscribers to another opt-in page and collect their email again, then it's either you misunderstood him/her or maybe the person coaching you is wrong.

So yes , it's a good idea to give away a free report in exchange for their email address and build an email list of targeted audience and continue recommending your products or affiliate offers to them but not probably for asking them for their email the second time.

Remember , the reason you build a list is to build good relationship with them, sell them stuff and sell them more stuff.

Of course 'newbies' can get confused - but it's up to the person to find other sources, check out things they don't understand....and that's what the OP was doing.

If the person teaching you affiliate marketing says you should send your subscribers to another opt-in page and collect their email again, then it's either you misunderstood him/her or maybe the person coaching you is wrong.
Sounds like confusion - does that mean you read my simple explanation and did not understand - or that you didn't read it?

We were all 'newbies' at one time and the one thing you have to learn about being a 'newbie'....

You can make excuses or you can make progress.

I think what you need to do is complete the course you have started. You chose the person who is teaching - so give it a chance and trust his advice.

You are asking members here to critique everything your 'mentor' says - and that doesn't make sense. It won't help you as many who answer won't know any more than you do.

Take the course - don't question everything the coach or mentor tells you or you won't learn anything.

Use google search for specific questions that come up in the course - you will find blogs and free tutorials that cover almost any question you might have - and you will be learning skills while doing that.
