Hi, I have a few questions I hope you can help me with

I started building a list this month (complete beginner). I used a landing page software (paying a subscription) to make building my squeeze pages easier. I use aweber which both are due to renew in 2 days.

I just wanted to report back on my first month and get some feedback. I chosen the weight loss niche. I know it's saturated but I know it's profitable so that's good enough reason for me to choose this niche.

I have been promoting purely through Instagram using free methods such as posting and following targeted people to get them to click through. In the 22 days that I have been doing this I have built my list up to 50 people (exactly 50). I know these aren't massive numbers but it's numbers. I have not spent a penny on advertising yet. I have been using 1 free method and stuck with it this month.

I don't have a lot of money to invest in my business and I know that's not a good thing. If I did have it, I would invest it, because you get out what you put in but the truth is that I don't have much to invest. I am in this for the long run so any sales that I do get, will be re-invested back in to it.

I have not made any sales yet. I gather their emails through a freebie that I wrote myself, it's a 9 page e-book. I have 14 emails that I wrote and some are email swipes. So I have them going through a funnel and they are clicking through. No unsubscribes as of yet. However, I will keep on pushing through with these Instagram technique to keep building.

I would like to expand into another free method that is effective. I would also like other ideas on paid advertising and other forms of advertising, tricks and methods that would greatly benefit me with email marketing/building a list.

Feedback is much appreciated.

Seems like your on the right track.
Anyone can pay heaps of money and max out their credit cards to get advertising, this is a good way to go broke.
If you got 50 subscribers in your first month by using organic growth then your doing well, seriously this is what you want.
"The money is in the list" has been written so many times it seems to be a bit old, but it is true, as long as they are QUALITY sign ups, not conned into it.
The people you want are the people that stay, there the ones who will turn into good customers, if you offer value for money, this doesn't have to be products, this can be in the form of advice (you can make money fromthis by having membership levels.
Try another medium, Facebook or something, I don't know your business so can't (and wouldn't) tell you what to do exactly.
The one thing I can tell you is to STUDY, do research and continue you "Organic Growth" it's the best way.
If you get 50 good subscribers per month for basically nothing, then multiply it by starting to use other mediums.
    Good luck to you
    Wayne

Hi! I would say you are doing well if you acquired 50 subscribers in 22 days with only using Instagram. You should be proud of your accomplishment. I would continue with what you are doing. You may want to add Pinterest as another free method. Since it's almost like Instagram where it's all about 'visuals', you may have some luck there, too. You can have your Pinterest images point back to your funnel to get subscribers.

When you say you haven't made any sales yet? Have you attempted to sell something through the emails you have been sending to your list? Is it your own product or someone else's product? In your free e-book, do you promote any products there? If you can provide more details, I may be able to give you some suggestions.

Thanks I have heard of pinterest and that's certainly something I will look into now. I have attempted to sell stuff but every email I have is basically promoting something (I may be trying to promote to much stuff rather than give out free advice etc) It's somebody elses product.

At the bottom of my e-book I promoted a product then I removed it but I can certainly add it back. I have been testing many clicks and tracked to see if people where clicking through from my ebook only a few clicked through but I guess out of 50 that's a good thing. However, no sales. Maybe the products I am trying to promote aren't good enough but they have high gravity on clickbank.

How many products are you promoting? I would stick to only a few good ones and only promote those consistently then change it up a few months later. Start with the best one. Make sure you are sending more value added emails than promotional ones. When you do send the promotional emails, make sure you tell a short story that leads to why the product is so great. People respond better to emails with stories and how that product solved a problem. Sometimes it helps if you have gone through the product yourself so you can speak genuinely about them. But if you don't have the money to invest in the products you are promoting, just do the best you can with how you are sharing them within your emails. And yes I would put the affiliate products within your ebook content or on the last page title "Recommended Products".

3 products over 14 emails. Probably to many? Not really sure. However, i only selected the ones that i thought where doing well and looked well to me. However, i would say that i would be honest and say that i am purely just promoting products rather than give value added emails. I'm mainly using email swipes to. I should maybe do some research into how to write better ones with the stories thing like you suggested. I am also editing my ebook to add that back in so thanks for the advice.

I have set up a pinterest account and will start to try expand my list further.

If anybody else has any other list building suggestions I would highly appreciate them.

  • Yeah you're doing good so far. I would say maybe get aggressive with it, like posting a lot more value and then hitting them with hey click the link in the bio. Even following more people a day to boost your subscribers you get a day.

Before you know it, you'll be at 500, then 1,000, 2,000 & really raking in big profits.

    Keep it up!

I'm a bit afraid to get aggresive with it as i don't want to look super spammy and looking like a marketer. I probably do anyway but i also don't want to put people off. I want people to trust me. However, i may test it to see if my opt-ins do increase. Thanks.

There is a somewhat exclusive online platform that has several very good weight loss Solo Ad providers with very reasonable prices that I have had great results with.

PM me if you want to use weight loss Solo Ad providers to build your list faster.
