List of 80,000 emails? What do I do with it?

Hi there all.

I just managed to get hold of a list of 80,000 emails that was sent to me by a friend of mine who was in the exact same niche as I am but has since stopped his online business.

I only have names and emails.

What's the best way to go about using this list properly?

As I said, it's the exact same niche so this can be very valuable to me. I just need some guidance on how to exactly manage this.

I am using Aweber and will only allow me to import 10,000 emails a month before they start asking questions (and they already did) freezing from my recent import for a review, which has now passed.

Any tips on how I can use this list and get it on Aweber properly?

Thanks you.

Why would he just give away 80,000 emails? Are you sure these aren't dead emails. I just don't see why anybody would give away 80,000 emails. He's clearly not making any money from this list otherwise he wouldn't give it away for free. You could be filling your list with a lot of useless emails.

you gotta validate those email address. i would recommend using 3rd party smtp server. and send small test like 5k or 10k and see the results.

Monetization? Maybe you could send them to a landing page and re opt them in to your lists. you can also sell other people product (Affiliate Marketing). solo ads maybe..etc

Yeah - it is what it is. sometimes it sounds too good to be true. but i also get opt-in data by the 100k's weekly to monetize them. so maybe it could be true.

That's right. first, you check emails validation. I have also 100k U.S emails.

I would first try to validate the emails. There are several services out there like hunter.io and
neverbounce.com. Then I would find an email service provider that will allow you to send emails to non-opt in lists. Create an exploratory email offering some free content about your niche. Maybe you have a blog post or newsletter article you can send and ask them to subscribe to receive more tips and content. This way you can get some idea if the subscribers on the list are still active in your niche.

that's a lot of emails. You need to verify those emails first and see if those are still active. After that you can proceed with email marketing or whatever you want to do with those. What does he do with such large amount to emails, and why did he give it away, makes me wonder.

It's too hard to get 80k emails, I think all mails are collected from Google. I also work some times in software company as a emai marketer they don't know how to use email marketing so I think your friend is also a scrapper. Don't waste your time coz no one subscribe to your emails and if you send without subscription your emails goes to spam folder and you never got any response

I believe you have received good information.. you need to validate the emails through a 4rd party. Aweber will shut you down if you try to use their services to send these emails, plus the increased sots may be for nothing. Once you validate that these are "real emails" send a gift to the list and have them actually subscribe to your email list. You may very well lose a large portion but the ones that remain are yours legally. Good luck

If you give me a copy of this list, I can run a validation report on it for you and let you know if your sitting on a goldmine or a total POS.

I understand you might not want to do that due to privacy, but thought I would offer anyway.

That's really too good to be true. It's not normal for someone to simply give away 80,000 emails. Before you start planning about monetizing them, make sure they're not dead emails, first. -Micah

Get Getresponse and start emailing your list once or twice a week with offers.

Mailing an uncleaned and unverified list of 80,000 users with GetResponse is impossible.
First off, GR wont even let you upload a list this large on a new account.
Secondly, it will scrub against their internal suppression list and find too many matches and your account will likely be closed down instantly.
Thirdly, if by some miracle you bybass these checks, your hard bounce rate and complaint rate will be well beyond what is acceptable and your account will be shut down immediately.
      This is, unfortunately, terrible advice.

Your friend might not have been within his rights to give away that data, regardless of what the niche is. The TOS of his email service provider, or the terms under which the subscribers signed up might have prohibited the transfer.

    Have you checked?

I think its pretty safe to assume that no ESP provider is going to openly say they allow 3rd party data to be used. That said, there are plenty of ESP's that are more mail friendly then others. Pretty much every single person who uses 3rd party data is breaking the TOS of the ESP's that they work with, and thats where getting creative on how to run your 3rd party data with these companies comes into place.

    Good advice here already.
    Get the list cleaned.
Find someone who has bulk mailing server who can send to your cleaned list on your hehalf.
I suggest you head over to mailwizz forum. Many of the members there use mailwizz to run their own email provider service. Ask for prices and where to sign up for mailing service with them.

Upload your cleaned list and start mailing them. If you want them in your aweber, you will have to mail them a link to a squeeze page and induce them to opt-in to your aweber list.

Or you could just go on mailing them from your mailwizz server.
Depends on cost, ROI, deliverabilty etc.

Or, you could just buy mailwizz - one off cost - host it on your VPS, and use third party smtp for sending. Like mailgun, elastic email, ... etc.
Depends on what niche you are in.

Some niches, like gambling, make money online, adult are banned by almost all
    while other niches are ok.
I think using third party smtp is way easier for getting started than using your own smtp.

If you are in any of the niches above then very likely only mailgun and mailrelay will accept your emails.

I don't think you should star with offers. Try to give them something, an ebook, an interesting story or something. I tend to send 1 offer of every 5 campaign I send.

I would suggest using an email sending platform that allows sending to cold email lists and have the contacts opt-in to your current, warm email list.

Aweber can get pretty expensive when you have a big list. The new setup, I have is based on Amazon AWS. This being, based on the fact that this is a new list to you, you could just test a smaller portion of the list to see how responsive they are. You could try selling solo ads if you get clicks from them.

I'm late to the party. Lots of good advice already given.

Bottom line, you need to test the quality of the data.

I would pull a random small sample, clean it and send it using a service that you don't care if it gets terminated. Rinse and repeat if you don't get terminated.

Validate them with tools like ZeroBounce and try to us it to engage those contacts. This would be the most profitable way to use that list!
