Building value into an email series

I have been building a list within the weight loss niche and to be honest my follow up emails where really poor. So I have took the decision to just delete the 14 emails I had that was just promote products one after another.

Now I want to really build a nice sold follow up series that just offers value upon value before I get to the product. However, not sure what value I can offer them over 5/6 emails before I hit the product.

Any suggestions?

I have always been an advocate that every email you send to your list should be trying to sell them something or monetize them in some way.

Some people on here will disagree with this method, but I don't have any interest in getting to know my list, I simply want to monetize them and get them to spend money.

Go sign up to other lists in the same niche and see what they send you.

This can come in handy. But it's always better to come up with unique strategies. You can never go wrong with "fitspirational" stories. Being in the weight loss niche can be a gamble, especially with its size and the population of your competitors. But if you try to be more specific, you can nail this one. Combine this with marketing materials that are compelling and credible. Make your audience think that weight loss is challenging, but is achievable, through first-hand experiences shared by others. - Micah

Two suggestions. First, narrow down your market. Weight Loss isn't a niche - it's far too broad a category. Focusing on a tightly-targeted topic will help you provide better value to your subscribers.

Second, as part of the niche selection process, consider whether there's enough value that you can bring to the subject. That may mean choosing a niche in which you already have some expertise or knowledge, or otherwise doing some in-depth research before presenting yourself as an authority.

Weight loss and weight loss products have gained global attention nowadays. So I believe it is helpful in building a responsive email list that you present them wight loss-related case stories. This way, you give away something of value that's inspirational.

I am not sure what products you are promoting, but, a lot of vendors have affiliate pages and provide emails that you can use. I would look into those and re-write them in your voice.

you can also get some plr and, again, re-write it. One place I use for health-related PLR is plrpump.com she has quite a bit of diet and weight loss plr

Share free, helpful strategies for losing weight through every email in the future. You will succeed if you give 99.9999% of your energy to helping people for free, and like 0.00001% to trying to make money. Detachment is very prospering.

Sorry, but ProducerK is wrong. Maybe this worked a year ago, but today you MUST provide value to people so you establish your authority and trust with your list.

You are competing with others in this space (a lot of others in this space) so you must stand out, and this is the way to do it.

There is not 1 guru that I know of that says otherwise. Think about it. Would YOU keep opening emails from someone that's constantly selling something, with no value added?

Now if ProducerK runs succesful email campaign using this strategy, then he might have a huge list with big numbers. Heck, you can probably make a few sales to a list of 200k, even if your tactics are less than ideal.

I agree with Tonester! Yes, you must provide value.

There are some marketers I know well and I also respect,
but I know they're ALWAYS trying to sell me something. And
I hate that. If I'm not in the market for buying stuff, I will
ignore their emails, even if I sometimes miss out on a
    good deal.

You should also get to know your email list. Interact with
your subscribers. Invite them to email you back. Ask them
questions about what they want to know, and then provide
    (some of?) that information.

That way, you'll build a tribe that will be open to following
your recommendations and also buying from you once you
    have your own products.

    Good luck!

I would suggest that you curate customized emails and in those emails promote the benefits of your products and services. Another good way would be to host a quizz ,questionnaire,or contest to get your list actively involved.

Another thing to remember with emails is that they need to be entertaining.

It's one of the most compelling ways to stand out in a crowded inbox. People are bored. You don't need to tell jokes, just inject some personality into your emails. It will help you go far. Google Ben Settle and read some of his emails. They entertain and educate. He's one of the best when it comes to email copy.

Also, create content that overcomes the objections of your prospects. For example, if someone had an objection of "I don't have time to cook", you might spend one email that provides a technique to cook a week's worth of food in 30 minutes.

If you overcome their objection with strategic content in emails, it'll be easier to sell your product once they click through.

I actually find my own list responds to sales offers - check out my product - as opposed To when I don't mention my products until email 4-5.

  • I would always check your "Subject" line. Change it up a bit. Maybe your Subject line was just not of interest. Just run a couple tests first Belford deleting an email list that small.

I would agree with a comment above. Every email sent should have the mindset of selling something. If you are not selling something in email 1 + 2 than those emails need to be setting up the pitch in email 3.
