Email Marketing Spam Problem

Hey,

I want to start my first email marketing campaign the next weeks. At the moment my hosting provider is M3Server. After I sent some test emails from my domain I found out that all mails I send to Microsoft (Hotmail, Outlook etc) are going directly to the spam folder. Gmail and Yahoo are fine.

I told my provider about this issue but they are not able to fix this. I also reported this to Microsoft and received a mail from that they would care about this but even after two weeks nothing changed.

My Questions:

1) Should I search a new provider? Which one do you recommend?

2) Should I not care about this problem because I collect my leads with opt-in and if they want the lead magnet they have to mark my mail as "no spam". Or will it look strange if the first mail they get from me is spam?

Thanks in advance

I don't have much experience on Microsoft Deliverability. Inboxing depends on variety of factors. Mainly sender reputation. It is a consist practice. Ideally it takes several weeks to start building a sender reputation. and see deliverability improvements.

Somehow you should care. Thats a good strategy you stated there. Microsoft uses an engagement filter. it learns from users behavior. You should ask your subscriber to white list your "Contact details" and mark your msg as "Not Spam". this will help building a reputation and improve your deliverability.

    It will look completely fine.

As long as you following opt-in best practices the warm up, reputation building, inboxing will comes naturally. it will take some time. i d say you give it a little more time and see how it goes.

Hope this helps you figure whats next.
    Good day.

  • Use double opt-in when collecting leads, so you'll get real email addresses. This will improve your deliverability. Or you can switch to another email service provider.

    1. Always do double-opt.
    2. Clean your email list from time to time.

  • I have good experience in email marketing. I use Mozilla Thunderbird to send emails, its working fine for me, I am getting response from my recipient. It depends on the email hosting provider, if your hosting provider is week you need to change them. Cheers

I don't recommend sending emails from the same server as your ecommerce store. You will find that hotmail and gmail are blocking more and more emails that come direct from web hosts servers. Even if you purchase a VPS or dedicated server, they may still block the hosting companies IP block.

I recommend sending emails via dedicated smtp providers.

in the UK I recommed mailjet as they have a cheap starter plan. Otherwise sendgrid and sparkpost are good too. Of course the is a cost to using these services, but at least you will improve your deliverability.

When you use any of these services you need to make sure you set up DKIM and SPF records correctly otherwise its a waste of time.

These service providers can also get blocked by Hotmail and Gmail but if you use a newsletter tool like mailwizz, you can setup multiple SMTP providers for a single campaign. Then you can figure which ones will not send to hotmail depending on the current status of your mail sending rejections.

The best solution for Inboxing on Hotmail and Outlook is to use reverse ip mailing method. Aside this, i'm not sure of any ESP that can inbox Hotmail and Outlook on mass level.

Hit inbox like a Pro. Use Reverse IP System and Send upto 300,000 emails daily straight to inbox. Add Skype ID: enbrett

  • First of all, did you warm up your IP? If not, you probably just ruined your IP reputation.

Second, why do you want to send emails from your own servers?

Try Sender.net . It's free up to 2500 subscribers. It has great deliverability, email marketing automation, even push notifications.

It's great to learn from the pros here. I don't do mass emailing as I am starting out. I focus on personalizing the emails to grow my list.

Offer something free for the optin and send it to the email. Don't allow traffic to download directly from your site.

      YUP!

I use single opt-in and add a statement along the lines that the freebie will be sent to the email address they enter. Rarely do I get any fake emails this way because they know the address has to be valid for them to get it.

I have a solution to this issue that i think will work. i have had personal experience when i first started email marketing. I discovered that my emails were going to the spam folder in Hotmail. There is two way to go about this. If the first step doesn't work, the second step will definitely work. What you need to do right now is create a new hotmail email address. Add it to your autoresponder and send an email to that email. Check your email after you have sent it. if you find the email in your spam folder, mark it as not spam. Send another email to the same account again and it should go directly to your inbox. Register another email and add it to the campaign and send. it should go to the inbox folder. Now if this doesn't work, the other option is to use the microsoft support form for company, businesses or individual sending emails to hotmail users. Once you feel and submit the form, you should here from them within some days that you can now successfully send emails to microsoft subscribers. Now test your campaign again. it should deliver to your inbox. Find the link to the microsoft support form below

    I hope this helps

    - Confirm that your DNS is set-up correctly.
    - Also new IP addresses have the same problem,if so you just need to give a couple of weeks also remember to update or set up a JMRP account.

Microsoft recently changed how they do complaint from their email users. So, some senders may see an increase in complaint rates which causes deliverability problems that result in an email being delivered to the junk folder or spam folder.

What you need to do is choose an autoresponder , I mean a professional one because if you send emails through your website you are a very high risk to be banned

Choose an autoresponder like getresponse, or aweber or sendlane and you can see the difference

Deliverability is based on many factors. I recently experiencing that my emails weren't authenticating which leads to my emails being sent to spam folder on gmail. I tried to walk around it without success but i decided to do some simple search on my web host reputation and also my autoresponder ip reputation and discovered my domain was placed on 2 blacklist for no reason. I never sent spam emails to anyone so i was really baffled. You will be amazed at what you will discover by doing this. I immediately requested for a de-listing of my domain from the blacklist. After a day or so, i received a response that my domain has been removed from the 2 blacklist. I then sent email again and it went to the spam folder. I then indicate it is not spam. I then resent and it went right to inbox. Try this step if it will work. Indicating an email as not spam helps tells gmail that it is not a spam email. So make sure your emails are in your email list so when you send out messages, you can check if it goes to inbox or spam. This should fix most issues with deliver-ability. I hope this helps.
