What is considered email traffic?

I have a relatively straightforward question regarding email traffic for affiliate offers. When a campaign states it does not accept email traffic, this is referring to direct email traffic such as placing the affiliate link in the body of the email, right? I want to direct my email subscribers to my website, and then have them signup for an offer on my web page. I just want to make sure this doesn't qualify as email traffic. Appreciate your input, thanks.

  • I believe you are correct in what you are saying.

From what I understand the autoresponder company you are using does not allow affiliate links in you emails. I am pretty sure they run the links, you put in your emails, to see if a sales page shows up.

I would think a website (not a single product sales page) would be fine. Similar to a YouTube video that had a pitch at the end.

I hope this helps clarify what you are asking.

    Hello,

If you are placing affiliate links in your email, it's considered as direct email traffic in your campaign. I think you are right in this context. If your email marketing tool does not allow to send affiliate links in the emails, then don't use it. But you can mention your website in the signature part of your email and you can drive your email subscribers to your website to sign up to your offer. But don't promote the affiliate link in your email campaign.

Hope this will help you with your query!

If the traffic comes from a link in an email message it would be considered email traffic.

If you send them to a landing page and from it, they have to click a link to go to the offer landing page, then you should likely be fine.

Just to be safe, I would use a redirect for your mail link to your landing page. If using a tracking service then set it to blank referrers.

I suspect that most advertisers that don't want email traffic are afraid of potential complaints due to spamming. So if you're not generating complaints, you will likely not have any problems.
