Are Solo Ads dead in 2018 and beyond? Or are they just mis-understood how to use them...

I hear a lot of people claiming solo ads are dead and do not work...

I would like to know people that have real experience with them (not selling them but using them for leads and sales of your own or affiliate products)...

For example:

Is it realistic to think you are going to make Front End sale on solo ads?

Can you make your money back on a solo ads run with Front End sales? Or should you be looking at the ROI on the backend to make it pay off...

Building an email list of solo ads needs a certain amount of time and skill to convert them into customers?

Solo ads work better in some niches than others?

I have been building lists for over 17 years, but have never used solo ads.

I know someone that does and has done extremely well.

It's all about finding legit providers with quality traffic.

I'm actually about to start testing solo ad providers and see how it goes.

I would suspect that most don't make frontend sales and those that do probably don't make their money back from them. Turning a profit is likely all about the backend.

Most solo ads are for the IM / MMO niche.

Hopefully, those with actual experience will post.

Yes for sure, I think the backend no matter what your traffic source is going to be where you really see the ROI...

Looking forward to more responses as well...

      I agree with this...

So I think that people that are disappointed with their solo ads results is because this is something they think is going to happen...

Even though from what I have learned so far about email the sales come with the follow up, and the continued long term follow up....

Solo ads are typically offered by one-guy (or one-gal) sellers. In other words, you're dealing with the list owner directly. Because of this, there's some risk involved.

so For me, the solo ads 'll works fine in:
    1) Marketers who have a bit of budget. Got a couple hundred dollars? That's enough to do some basic testing with solo ads.

    2) If you're in a niche where pay per click prices are through the roof. In this case, your cost per click from solo ads may be so much less than what you'd get on AdWords or Bing that solo ads are worth a test.

    3) If you're in a niche that's completely over-saturated with content (like affiliate marketing or weight loss).

    4) If you're in a niche with intense competition for search engine traffic.

    5) If you're about to launch a product, or if you need traffic sent to a page quickly. You've got no time to write guest posts, build an audience, or do anything that takes more than a few days to see results.

Money are in the back end of course.

And yes, you need at least some copywriting skills to make profit from solo ads

    and legit solo ad seller.

Go here in the classified ad, and type "solo ads". These are good sellers.

    WHY?

Cause they have lot of reviews after their thread, not manipulated cause WF is a forum not onlly for solo ads and not for one solo ad seller and so the sellers want to have a good reputation.

Start there and ask the vendor if the opt in page is ok, if his traffic is suitable for your list.

I buy solo ads all the time and do very well with them. But, I am very selective who I buy from. A lot of solo ad sellers are scammers. Fake traffic, low quality traffic, churn and burn traffic, paid to surf traffic etc is being sold as solo ads.

But, there are still many reputable solo ad sellers. You just have to find them and then not tell anyone about them.

Want to know where I get the best converting solo ads? I'll give you a big hint. I contact real bloggers that have email lists and negotiate (bribe) a solo ad deal with them.

Yes and I believe this to be what a solo ad is meant to be...

From my research it is what and how it worked historically...

With most solo ads vendors just selling clicks and making as much as they can while they can ... not a sound business model ... for the long term anyway...

Solo ads has it's strengths and weaknesses, I don't usually use them though as you can still build your list without that. Try influencer marketing instead, it's a better alternative.

As far as I have understood it, it depends who is providing these solo ads? Getting Solo ads from Udimi or fiverr is useless. And, if you try to go through somebody having real quality list, they are too expensive. I once asked, Grabone in New Zealand, Oh they are beyond my budget..

    Hi Garry,

Well what you have heard from people about Solos is not true

It's just that they haven't been able to get the results they were expecting

I see you wanna know people who are in Solo ads space and using them for
leads and sales of their product.

I would suggest you check Facebook Group Solo Ads Testimonial, the members of
the group is involved in Selling/buying solo ads you can connect with them there.

Is it realistic to think you are going to make Front End sale on solo ads?

    - Yes! You can make front end sales but it depends on who your solo ad vendors. Some, I consistently get 1 to 2 sales per 100 clicks, some you get none. And a small amount will proceed with purchasing upsells too from the front end.

Can you make your money back on a solo ads run with Front End sales? Or should you be looking at the ROI on the backend to make it pay off...

    - It is very difficult to make a positive ROI on the front end. It is still possible provided the upsells are converting well. In most instances, you will not make a positive ROI from the front end.

    - As per any marketing, you should be focusing on the back end with your medium priced to high ticket offers.

Building an email list of solo ads needs a certain amount of time and skill to convert them into customers?

    - Are you referring to building an email list to sell solo ad or from solo ads?

    - If I were to use PPC to get my leads, I will still need a simple funnel with follow up emails to convert my leads into customers. So yeap, purchasing solo ads is the same too. You need to build trust with your prospects to turn them into customers too.
