What is the max open rate you got?

As the title says : What is the max open rate you got?
Talking about both unique opens and total opens, because many people tend to open an email twice or even more times.

2nd question. Do you sell more to people opening the email letter twice?

My customer lists open rates are between 80% and 100%. But again, you can't consider them normal marketing lists since they also expect update notices on the software they purchased.

The more broad a list is, the lower the open rate. Very narrow niche lists usually get very high open rated. I quit doing broad email lists many years ago and concentrate on very narrow niche lists now. Depending on the niche, I get 30% to 80%+ open rates.

The broad email lists, I got real lucky to get 2% open rate.

2% for broad email list? That is too little. At the service I offer people get ~5% in that case.

There's no simple answer to this. How are you getting your email list? Are you paying for lists form a third party? Then the open rate will likely be low. Are these your own customers who have explicitly asked to be on your list?

What is the content of your message you are sending out? Are you marketing to them multiple times a week or offering important updates once in a while?

All these, and many more factors will play into your open rate.

When I did the list building thing I was about 40-50 percent. But not building a list these days. Focus on helping subscribers and independent of open rates - which fluctuate - folks will buy what you have to offer through email.

100% when I use to have an email list of just one.

  • Yeah this really comes down to what list you're mailing and how long since they joined. If you're talking a general static list that you send emails out to in *real time*, it'll be lower - so 20% or more might be considered good, depending on your niche. But if you're talking about the early stages of an autoresponder sequence shortly after a person signs up, then it should hopefully be at least 50-60% for the initial message and hovering around halfish for the first few days (if you do a good job of keeping it interesting and using cliff-hangers.

From my experience, anywhere around 5% to 10% open rate is normal and around 1% to 2% is normal for click rate for a single optin list. But again, as others pointed out, it depends on a lot of factors like niche, the number of emails and the type of emails you send etc.

I have a double optin list and below is the result I get:

Sounds accurate to me. I cold emailed around 1,400 leads the other week and the open rate was 4.68% (out of those, more than 10% clicked through to my site).

This I'm purely talking about Sales and Marketing type of Emails.

My welcome messages have got anywhere between 37% to 58% open rates.

The Follow Up Series have got upto 23% on the lower side to 48%.

The broadcast, I get between 3.5% to max 12.5%

So far this has been my best numbers.

Now I am reading some of the top direct marketers to learn the art of email marketing. I have heard some people earn as much as $300 from each subscriber they have on their list. They have open rates higher than 60 to 70 percent.

So there is a long way to go.

Hopefully at some point in one year, I will come here and put some better numbers if I am able to get them.

    Stay focused, Stay rich.

I find that I can get whatever kind of open rates I want, by cleaning my list severely. So I only look at open rate to compare recent emails to see subject line performance.

I could get a super high open rate approaching 100% if I only keep people on my list who open every email. That's kind of stupid, but to a point you can make your open rate as high as you want it to be.

I can get a super low open rate under 5% if I never clean the list of inactives and start collecting emails through dirty methods.

This is why when people just throw out their open rate %, bragging about some high number like 30%, you can't discern that they have good content or good marketing. How old is their list? Do they clean it? How often, and how much?

I will say about 15-20 open rates.

As to your 2nd question, yes I do though again I do not expect all of them to buy.

It depends on the Industry you are into and the relevancy of your email list. As people are bombarded with the emails, you have to have their permission which can increase the open rate. If you don't have people permission before sending them, almost there are zero chances they open your email. My email open rate was around 26% for a blog that updates online deals.

Not quite sure about that. When I see an email that I've never had subscribed for I firstly open it to check it by thinking "FROM WHERE THE HELL THIS CAME FROM" and then delete it or unsubscribe.
The low open rate comes from different factors.

I am pretty new at email marketing, (less than 6 months), but I am getting 10-40% depending on what I am offering. I am playing with my lists and learning what is getting their attention. I guess time will tell. I was impressed with the 41.7% from a list of only 50.

    It depends on many factors.....

-What kind of list you have

    -What is the niche

-How often you broadcast your list

    -How old is your list

    -How you build your list

    -And many more.....

Lets say, your list is old and you don't send broadcast regularly, open rate is usually low, because subscribers forget you...
If you spam them every day, then also your open rates are love.... they don't want to hear from you anymore....
Depends also on how Spamy your email is.... If email finish in junk folder, nobody open it...
    And so on....

    65%-75% on the first message.

After the first message, I strictly use broadcasts.

The second message is usually 40-50.

After that, it varies and I always resend to un-opens of broadcasted messages.

For my PPL business, which is my core business. I just track ROI, as it is all I really care about.

The first few emails I get 80% plus.

Then about 30% on average after that.

I also clean my list every now and again to delete inactive subscribers.
