I've sold something for ten years but never email marketed, can I revive the list?

I have sold a product to an audience for about ten years.

I have probably sold 100 - 200k copies of the digital product. Therefore the email list is probably 100k to 200k .

Except the problem is I never did email makreting to this audience (after they purchased) because the product I sold was for people who were in desperate need. It wasn't a "passion niche".

But I was recently thinking that maybe I could still market more stuff to this audience. But I have not kept their emails within my autoresponder. I deleted them each month.

I can however get access to the emails by developing a scraper to thru my gmail and also extracting many from my shopping cart.

So lets say I gather a list of the emails. Is it possible to upload them to an autoresponder and market to the audience without requiring double opt in?

And if so, is there an autoresponder that will allow me to upload them and market from a differnt domain / persona?

Would it be very hard to warm this audience up and create a relationship with them?

Do you think its worth my time to try to ressurrect this list?

    No to all ...



    Any list that old will be riddled with non-existent emails, they may have been converted to spam traps .. etc. You'll never get permission to upload this to any autoresponder company.



    If you have an idea how to keep marketing to these people your best bet is to implement an opt-in now and collect your buyers emails from now on, with a company like aweber.



    Keep mailing them, don't let the list get old.

    Why did you have an autoresponder and deleting emails at the same time?

    I doubt most autoresponders will let you submit an email list, for all they know it's a spam list found/sold on the net.

    I also doubt most people would be interested in being on your list. Think about it, do you care about a desperate niche 10 years later. Wouldn't you still need to be desperate (10 years later)?

    The best you can do is move forward, stop deleting emails on a new optin/list and move fast on upsells for a desperate niche.

    Why don't you just email them with the original product link.....which they can download by....subscribing?

    10 years is too old.

    It is likely that many have been converted to spam traps and are no longer interested in the niche.

    I typically draw the line at a few years old and clean the data with a social media checker that that checks which emails are associated with a social media account. The reason being if it's associated with a social media account it is likely a main account that is checked often and not a spam trap.

    While this isn't foolproof and knocks the size of the list down quite a bit, it's better than dumping it all together. Then I clean the data as normal, removing bounces, known traps, etc...

    I also just do the above to a random segment to test if it is worth doing the entire list.

    I would assume that most email service providers would consider this list cold as they haven't been communicated too via email.
    So, you'll want to ensure the email service provider allows sending to cold emails.
    I'd also run this list through a 3rd party email verification software to remove any bad or invalid email addresses.
