7.M Million Emails - What To Do?

Hi all, I owned a network of offers over the past 6 years. It has since closed its doors. But, during that time we generated over 7.5 million single opt-in email records. The data quality is mediocre at best and is pretty old.

Are there any platforms/partners that would allow me to mail to this data, knowing that due to age, there are going to be quite a few bounces, complaints, etc?

Do you have any suggestions for how I can start monetizing this data?

Thank you!

The best practice that will save your email reputation is to throw the list away and start over. You may have 7.5 million email addresses, but you don't have consent from 7.5 million people to receive, effectively, spam advertising your new business venture. Since the data is single opt-in, you don't even know whether you had consent to send those people email from your first network - you have no proof that the email address submitted to your web form belongs to the person who filled it out.

Even people who were legitimate sign-ups are going to mark you as spam. Do you remember every web form you filled out 6 years ago? What would you do if you started receiving emails from companies you had never heard of because you filled out those forms? I imagine you're quite likely to mark it as spam, which is the greatest signal an ISP can get as to how to treat your messages.

I'm working on building out a tool to help vet out whether you have quality data, but that doesn't diminish the fact that you'll save yourself weeks of headache by building a brand new list of engaged customers instead of trying to monetize leads that are long gone.

Throw it away would be the safest option..

Second best might be to try to clean it up, but that would be a big task

One option might be to grab a random 1000 email addresses and import it into Facebook as a custom audience just to see what quality it is.. if you get 500 in the audience it's goo if you get less than 50 it's bad.

But junking it would be the best option.

Thanks for the tip! I imported about 1000 contacts into a Facebook custom audience, but the results just say result size is "fewer than 1000." Do you know if there is a way for me to see the exact size of the result? With this information, the result could be 900 or could be 1.

You can hire any of the following smtp server service and send emails to your lists to make them clean and use for future promotions.

    dailysender.com/
    instantbulksmtp.com
    massmailservers.net

plz note ask for SSD server cause you have very bit list that will take too much time to import with normal SATA HDD's

don't throw just use a nice and cheap smtp service to send them welcome letter. you will see about 70% will be still active because they were optin so you hope have optin source details etc... if someone gona complain you can reply to complain with optin details thats it. and once the lists will be clean after taking bounce off you can use that list.

Start from the most recent data you have.

Take a sample of it and have the data cleaned.

Test it using a service that doesn't allow bulk email.

Services that allow bulk email are just going to put you on a dedicated IP and you will have to warm up and build its reputation. No sense in doing this just to do a test. Plus most that are openly advertised on the net are overpriced anyway.

Keep working your way back through the data until you build up a good amount of opens / clickers. Then if you want you could consider running a system with your own IPs.

Thanks! A service that doesn't allow bulk email? Like constant contact, mailchimp, etc? What kind of content could I send through those services that wouldn't be flagged with complains?

You said they were opt-in. So send something relevant to what they signed up for.

Granted, the older the data the greater the chance they are no longer interested.

If you start with the most recent data there is a better chance they may still be interested and remember signing up.

Use an SMTP service to test with.

    Trash it immediately juggernaut.

7.5 million emails are inanimate objects, that cannot do anything. Out of the humans who signed up for the email lists, most of them have different needs, so selling the data would be unethical on a few levels. #1 you did not get folk's consent to receive email from the buyer. This is illegal around much of the world, and spam at best. #1, the buyer didn't earn the reader's trust, and the reader has no idea who the buy is. Not ethical, not legal in many nations, and a nightmare.

Begin from scratch, do it right, build business quickly and avoid countless headaches. Deep six it.

Try to validate those leads, start with the most recent. and send segmented personalised relevant emails. see how the list react and go from there.

You could try SparkPost, Amazon Maybe or setup your mailing servers. but you will need to go through good warming up practice.

Hey let me try to give in my suggestion in fact lets say that let me add mine in the pool so so many valuable suggestions already present here.

Lets say that you have a list now and it consists of 7.5 emailing contacts. Well not bad at all but the thing is that it does not matter much unless you have them as optin subscribers. Opt in will mean that they have given you the consent to receive the emails from you and there is a good chance that they may mark your emailing as spam. Now a days all the emailing apps have such big "Mark as Spam" buttons on the front that it is a high possibility that you will end up there for so many reasons. So lets say that instead of emailing them about your services or product, send them an email for opting in.

Second, use a good automation software and you can PM me for that. I am not advertising anything on the warriorforum so I will be brief. I can just help you in telling about which software do i use and where do i get the servers to reach my volume in a good price. Anyways, a good solution will ensure that you generate good emails and campaigns and you can automate them based on the criteria. I personally use autoresponders and triggers to make sure that i hava a good return.

Third. make sure that you are regular and persistent with what you do. I have seen many good starters fail and it is almost a cliche now a days. They fail because they give up on the effort which is needed to ensure the sustainability of the good work let it be any work.

So i hope it was useful.

    Regards.
    Caroline

This looks really hectic & tedious job. But why don't you hire a virtual assistant who can provide you with data entry services for all these emails in proper classification. You can also hire him for providing proper analysis of the email data.
Don't just hire someone as virtual assistant as they even makes it further problematic for you to get work done. their are lots of VA companies who have expertise in doing such jobs
