Is Mailchimp even for Email Marketing anymore?

Mailchimp recently moved away from Email Marketing altogether. It's now an 'all in one marketing platform'.

Their new pricing based on 'audiences' now essentially means you've to pay for contacts you can't market to anymore.

What does this mean for Email Marketing and its direction in the future?

Curious to know what the Warrior Forum community thinks about this!

I think it's time that happened. MailChimp has never been good for IMers but many try to use it because "it's free". MailChimp does not play well with affiliate marketers - but they try to use it anyway. MC does not offer customer support for the 'free' trial option (do you blame them?) so users try to get customer service from this and other forums.

Transitioning to a full service platform makes sense if MailChimp plans to take their business to the next level.

I think they realize they are, or going to be left behind if they don't adjust their platform. The IM community is huge and many use email marketing, so they are using other platforms other than MC (for now). It will be interesting to see if they adapt enough in the next year or two and try to grab more of the IM market share.

All businesses need to adapt to keep pace with change and new competition.

Indeed MC is a wrong place to use for email marketing and I'd tend to agree as well that it is popular among many marketers online is because it's free to use for a quite good chunk. I would think there's another good reason for that also and it's because MC is the oldest service in the like, besides SES (but MC has spread fast for its easiness of use), and both have been at the front-end for a good while, so that's make every single app, SaaS, WordPress plugins and all the tools in the like that has to deal with email transactions to be, and ARE, compatible and / or have some gateway with / or through MailChimp.

For the email marketing market, MC has never really been meant for email marketing at all it is meant for transactional emails daily deliveries which is a HUGE market, unthinkable, much greater than the email marketing niche, which is only a small portion of the daily email traffic which transits through The Network. Hence, I doubt very much that MC would be bothered by whining marketers who complaint that MC do not want their business. Imho, I doubt they'll "adapt", but who really knows...

Hi warriors, I recently discovered that MailChimp isn't able to track clicks in there emails when they are from a dynamic content block. This is something they said they don't support currently but will look to raise with their dev team. I want to be able to track all associated clicks in my email campaigns when I have used dynamic content blocks. Has anyone come across this issue? And if so, do you know a workaround for being able to track these clicks outside of MailChimp? Is there a platform you can recommend? Many thanks.

MailChimp issue is they are being blocked by lot of email filtering like Proofpoint, FuseMail, Mimecast, etc. Most of their users are having hard time sending their blast emails as the email will be quarantine. The workaround is to whitelist the MailChimp IP CIDR range. This is causing issue for them as well.
