New to mailing lists - how does the sender email work?

I have searched here on the forum and have not been able to find the answer to this. I am new to making a mailing list and I want to have a newsletter sign up form on my website that gives a free report to get the email address then I plan to send weekly or monthly newsletter emails out to the people on the list with information and also affiliate links in those newsletters.

I did cold emailing in the past and had problems with my email addresses getting labeled as spam and that caused a lot of problems sending emails so I want to make sure I do this right. When you use a service like mailpoet or mailerlite does it use a mailpoet email address or do you use one of your own email addresses as the sender? I am using a wordpress website with a form on that to get the initial email address.

I want to keep from using a @mydomain email address so it does not risk it being labeled as a spammer even though I will have an unsubscribe link in the newsletter. How does that work? Do people use free gmail addresses for this? Would it be better to use an @domain email? If so should I buy a different domain and use that one for those emails? I am new to mailing lists and it would really help if someone here can explain that part to me.

Thanks!

Go register a new domain and set up and email for it and use that as your sender email with the autoresponder service that you use. Sender email being the "From" email address that is used when the message is sent.

When you send a message, the service will add an unsubscribe link to it at the bottom of your message. So there is nothing to set up for the unsubscribe process.

Thank you. Then I would only need the domain name and set up the email where I buy the domain or do I need to connect it to hosting? How does a service like sendgrid work with that or do I only need the autoresponder like getresponse?

Technically, all you need is a working email address to use as the sender. However, I would get some inexpensive hosting and use it to create redirects for any links you put in the message. You can also set up your email through the hosting service, you don't have to do it through the domain register.

Sendgrid charges per email sent. Getresponse charges by how many contacts you can store and you can send an unlimited number of emails to those contacts. I actually use both, you need to choose which would work best for what you are doing.

Thank you for the information. That is one thing I was wanting to know is if I needed both or only one of the two of those on there. I will look into the two of those on there.
