In July I shared a video on what happens when you reply to a spam mail. You know, those Nigerian scam where you have a USD 10 million inheritance from a dead prince. Here's part 2, again with James Veitch, but this time he annoys his way off a spammer's mailing list.

A spammer sending an attachment that contains a link to a virus or spyware that lets the bad guys record your typing and send your information to the hacker. This is quite common when you reply to spams.

Often times when I email them back, they never reply.

  • I've seen Veitch's TedTalks on this. He's sooo funny. His strategy works with text scammers too =)

Unclaimed insurance bonds, diamond-encrusted safe deposit boxes, close friends marooned during a foreign country, and other clearly suspicious (not to say too good to be true) spam emails. Your first thought probably entails deleting spam email immediately, never reminisce , and don't reply.
