I see the pricing plans of providers such as aweber and getresponse and can see they charge based on the size of your list but offer unlimited emailing. The unlimited emailing might sound appealing at first, but if your list size is 2,000 are you really going to email them every day? That would be 60,000 emails sent if you emailed your list of 2,000 every day for a month.

Which do you prefer:

1) unlimited email but restricted by list size
example: $24.99 for unlimited emails, but limited list size up to 3,000
2) limited emailing, but unlimited list size
example: $19.99 for limited emails 25,000, but unlimited list size

  • It's not so much a matter of 'preference' but of choosing which pricing plan fits YOUR business model.



    Wouldn't increasing the price level also increase the number of emails or list size?
  • Not sure I'm understanding you. What does the size of the list have to do with the frequency of emails? Each subscriber would still get the same number of emails regardless.
  • Yes, as the price goes up so would the amount of emails or list size.

    I feel like some providers offer unlimited emailing, but limit your list size. Look at Aweber for example, $19/m for 500 subscribers. Sure you get unlimited emailing, but how many emails could you realistically send to them in a given month without pissing off your subscribers? You're actually paying a lot to email.

    But yes, you guys are right in that it probably depends on business needs. I was hoping to get other people's opinions on which types of plans they prefer for their needs. Would you rather have your list size capped, or your emailing capped?

    • The way I look at it is I should be in control of how many emails I send. I'd want the flexibility to test campaigns, for example. And I could limit my emails by sub section to control how many each subscriber received.

      In general, you should be earning more revenue as your list grows, so that should more than cover the increased cost of a larger list.
