How many email subscribers did you have before you got a conversion?

Hi guys,

I've been building an email list for a celeb fan club. I have about 200 subscribers but I have no conversions yet. I started sending emails in early January.

Should I have some conversion by now? How many email subscribers did you have before you started getting conversions?

      I have subscribers who signed up that want a weekly news update about a particular celeb. The lead magnet for signing up is a $20 gift card. The offer: I rotoate each week with a new offer (Commission Junctino offers). No takers yet.

      I have another newsletter for weight loss. I have about 50 subscribers. I offered an ebook as a lead magnet and the offer is a clickbank offer. I hired a copywriter to write me 5 emails (to start). I started getting subscribers in min Jan. Still no conversion yet.

      I'd love to know what your thoughts are. Thanks.

        Celeb fans looking for news of their heroes are spoilt for choice - there's no shortage of online content they can consume for free. If the gift card ties in with your offer(s) and relates to celeb-specific merchandise, you'll stand a chance of conversions. Otherwise, they'll spend it elsewhere and your emails will end up largely ignored. Find offers that are specific and not generally available and present them as a fellow fan.

        Conversions happen when your offers are congruent with your readers' expectations. In other words, give your subscribers what they expect to get when they sign up - or change your criteria for signing up to reflect what you intend to supply.

        Another factor is your site or landing page. You need it to be attracting the quality of leads that will result in conversions. That means targeting buyers of fan merchandise - preferably celeb or genre specific - rather than via a general celeb fan site.

        Regarding the weight loss offer, I'll just say two things: First, weight loss isn't a niche - it's a huge and diverse market which is ridiculously competitive. If you don't target a narrow and more easily identified segment, you'll have zero chance of success. And second, 50 subscribers in four weeks is nowhere near enough data to be making any conclusions about conversions.

    I think it's not do much the size of your list nut more importantly the relationship and value .People have to know like and trust you before they buy something. Keep building yoir list and also keep providing value. Find creative to engage with your list as well.

      Thanks for the input. I've read a couple of guides on email marketing and they usually say in order for the subscriber to trust me (and buy through my links) I must provide value by sending blog post-type emails that teach the subscriber about the topic.

      Do you agree with that?

        Hey BluesPlayer Your lead magnet was for a $20 gift voucher for what im not sure if you said already? It seems to me like 1. you need to keep building your list you dont have enough data yet to know anything that will help. 2 Your audience and your offers don't match, they have to be closely related to the thing that got them to put up there hand up and say yes i like your topic or ''Niche" and i want more of that. If you are just putting random commission junction offers in front of them its not going to work. You need to niche down for eg if your celeb list is say Post Malone fans then you could target something like post Malone fans who over eat or post Malone fans with erectile dysfunction then you have a targeted market you can send a newsletter about all things Post Malone and every now and then promote viagra. The point is you need to target a specific section of the niche because if you try sell to everyone you will get lost in the noise and reach no one. Also last thing i will say is try and solve a pain point with your content and offers to a specific sub section of the niche, hope this helps a little

            Ok so the lead magnet is for WWE Shop discount is that right? What about the Commission Junction offers on your rotator? Also you need to build your list bigger before you can get some good numbers. Keep adding new people while churning out quality content build your list play the long game

    You should be making about $1 per subscriber a month. You have 200 subscribers, so your revenue should be $200 a month.

    Let's say each sale gets you a $50 commission. That's 4 sales, so 1 sale a week.

    I agree with Mr. Winner's math, however your list does not match what you are offering. Giving them a gift card is freebie seekers paradise. Give them something of what your true list would want to value as a lead magnet. Keep it easily digestible such as a guide. Ebooks are too big and people don't want to take the time to read those even when it is for free. Niche down your losing weight genre, however 50 is too small a sample. The minimum of getting accurate numbers is 200 subscriber. If you don't see conversion, look into what is wrong. It could be the offer, the copy, the headline, the lead magnet, or the funnel.

    200 subscribers is also fantastic. You don't need a huge list to get great conversion.

    Just build trust with them and make them see you as the Go-to person in your niche.

    Also work on your deliverability and you will see your conversion improve well.

    There's no exact number of email subscribers to have to get a conversion. The important thing is to make sure you have a good capture page with evidence, social proof, an offer that has meaningful benefits, and have a good copy. Your main goal is to sell benefits
