Are you list building

Building lists through ads or your website is a waste of time, money, or both

Well list building its still efective but the thing its not so efective like in the past where you copy some email swipes of affiliate offers and you would make sales
Now it more harder as you need to come with real value and put the effort to make it work

I build opens/clickers promoting PPL (pay per lead) offers using 3rd party data rather than building subscribers using traditional list building methods. You can also generate real-time co-reg leads if you're too scared to get some complaints. The downside is that you have to pay for every lead generated, so higher upfront costs. Getting some complaints is inevitable with 3rd party data. However, in the long run, it's hard to beat!!!

I personally do not actively go out and build a list, with the mechanics specifically built to do so... Meaning I dont run an ad, offer some free thing to get the e-mail address and then send them offers.

I actively run ads to sell things, and once I have the sale is where the opt-in happens. I end up with e-mail lists of buyers - and buyers only.

This is obviously not something you can do as an affiliate marketer selling someone else's stuff.

For the sake of discussion lets say I do want to offer an affiliate offer in say weight loss. I will find a THING to sell that is close in context to whatever the series of affiliate offers I want to put in front of people. A real world something I actually sell example is Small plates - as in 8" plates... less plate space equates to eating less, that equates to the first steps in dieting.

So once I have sold and delivered the plate... I can start in on offers to further enhance the dieting experience. Because they have bought before the likelihood they will buy again is greatly increased.

I opt in to offers all of the time to see what others are communicating in their Autosponders. 99% of the time what I get is Hey buy this offer NOW - over and over and over. THIS is what probable failure looks like.

The advantage I have of selling something FIRST in regards to all of the follow up content is I can keep it related to what it is I sold them... So in this example I sold the person small plates... I can then start to follow up with small portion recipes - where to find smaller portions ( this is actually a thing ) such as 4 ounce chicken breast vs 6 or 8oz chicken breasts - AKA this in itself becomes an affiliate offer. Um things like how to make a half a box of Mac and Cheese, Better for you Quesadillas, buyng and cooking egg whites vs whole eggs... the topic stream goes on and on.

List building is the easy part... getting people to actually read what you are sending and then buy ( hopefully over and over ) is the hard part

My number one method for building an email list is number one identifying what the biggest and most urgent problem in the given niche im in, then from there creating or getting a lead magnet that directly addresses that challenge. After thats established, there are thousands of different ways to send traffic to that landing page, whether that be online or offline. My personal favorite method is through the use of social media automation tools. But my best recommendation would to find where that target audience is hanging out, and farm. By the way you wouldnt sell beef in a vegetarian convention, so dont try building your list in a place where people have no interest.

List building generates us 7 figures a year. Yes, its effective, but like anything, it requires a lot of work, care and dedication to have success in it.
