When did you take list-building seriuosly?

For me its was just recently (May) , but I really see the power
in building a list so I'm very glad that got started.

When did you realize that you wanted to?

    Hey

    Thanks for your post.

It was almost 2 years ago when i realized that i needed to start building a list of customers.

After years of failing at affiliate marketing, i finally realized that it is very rarely that someone will buy a product from a person that they don't know or trust.

After having a website with great content, I started taking list building seriously. Before that, I always spoke directly with customers via email so I did not want to bother them with extra emails in the form of newsletters or auto responders.

Once I finally had my own product

        Was definitely a huge breakthrough...

Especially for the fact that I could control all of the pricing within my funnel

    Hi Beasty513,

To answer your question, "When did you take list-building seriuosly?"...

I have been online for many, many years, and never, ever thought that
I really needed to own or to have or to organize or to build my own list
    of subscribers, UNTIL recently.

And even when I saw very, very strong evidence that it is imperative that
I make every effort to own a list, I still did absolutely nothing about it.

Only recently it hit me that I am not going to get very far with my Internet
marketing efforts, if I don't own a subscribers' list.

Congratulations, Beasty513. You said: "For me its was just recently (May) ,
but I really see the power in building a list so I'm very glad that got started."

Good for you. That was a smart move in the right direction. You are way
ahead of the game. Great job! : -)) All you need to do right now is to continue
to build that base, and soon, you will see the kind of income results that you
    have been only dreaming of.

    Happy for you. :-))

Not right at the beginning but early enough in thankfully.

I launched my first ever site without one and got nowhere not just because the lack of a list but for many reasons.

Then I launched a product and had no list and that didn't go too well either.

I think on my second product launch I decided to give list building a try and I never looked back.

Since then I use on EVERY project.

The moment that I realized that all the money that I spent buying IM products could have been used to build a list of 10,000 people :/

As a marketing consultant (in my previous offline life), I learned that the most important asset I had was the ability to communicate with my clients/leads/customers.

At the time, I used house addresses to send mailings..and then eventually i switched to email and never looked back.

With that being said, now that I've recently started my own online site...I'm pretty much focusing on email from the start. And I advise all of my clients to do the same.

As a little side tip, I'll throw this out there. I've seen a lot of talk about about people bragging about there high click through rates on the links in their emails. Or even their high open rates.

Those are vanity stats. I think whats more important is "Does those emails lead to you making money"???

I say this because I've seen emails with low open rates outperform (in terms of sells) emails with high open rates.

It is smart to continually test subject lines... But you still want to make sure that your entire email funnel is built to lead to an intended and specific action, preferably a product purchase.

I have a very successful business that has nothing to do with internet marketing. I stumbled on to internet marketing as I thought it would help get a few more sales and now I have become obsessed with it. I get up in the am and check my aweber account to see how much the list grew. I am convinced that "the list" is the asset and every business needs to develop and maintain "the list".

Person A in my head: "The market is over saturated. Everyone is on too many lists already. Would have been great to get in a decade ago, but no point now."

Person B in my head: "If that's true, then how come you keep joining lists and buying stuff from those lists?"

When I realized person A is an idiot and told him to shut up.

I'm with you cborgrx. Procrastinated for years, all while making ZERO income. Last week I bought a WSO called List Building Breakthrough, and now I am actually taking action and looking forward to the results

I should also tell you that I think the WSO (by Bryan Harkins) is amazing value, with stuff that is different to what I have read before, and I've already heard from others that are using it that have seen there list grow (I have no connection with Bryan other than I bought his WSO)

That's great to hear guys as list-building can be
immensly valuable to your online efforts. I think that if you
stick with it, you'll be rewarded greatly for focusing.

To be honest, every super-rich internet marketer always tells me how important a list is, I've known that for a while now but I still haven't taken it seriously. I hope to soon!
