Self-Hosted Autoresponder

I know this topic has been talked about a few times on this Forum, but I just wanted to get your thoughts on self-hosted auto responders. Right now I am using the Wordpress plugin MyMail and using Mandrill to send the emails. I have way more opens and clicks than I ever did using Aweber or Getresponse.

Anyone else do self-hosted?

I don't do self hosted. However, a friend of mine does it and even set up a company for the business. However, after few months doing it he admitted that it is not easy. It is better opting for establish AR in the market rather than the hassle of maintaining and trouble shooting own AR. That was his comment.

I say if it's working better for you grrrrEAT! Everybody does not have to use Aweber. A lot of these big & popular email services are starting to get blocked or sorted as promo email in Gmail and other email providers, so taking the time to learn to set-up & operate your own self-hosted autoresponder may not be such a bad idea.

We have done some self hosted, in our experience it works best for a list under 5K.

Just curious, what specifically about your self-hosted AR do you attribute this to?

I'm always interested in seeing and discussing the carefully monitored statistics of people with extensive experience of using both orthodox service-providers like Aweber and GetResponse and self-hosted autoresponders.

Unfortunately (but understandably) one very rarely gets the opportunity.

i learned that self-hosted AR has a side effect. though not very sure as i havent use it before. the side effect is that if not properly done well, when you send emails it will something like your email will be black-listed for spam. so make sure its a reliable one

No I don't do self-hosting, I feel safer paying a professional to do this.

    Hey Bryan

I have been using self hosted for some time now. There are good and bad to both. If you are in the solo ad business you need to have a self hosted back up. Even more than one.

The big boys are trying to put us out of business.

There is truth to this as we know the Big 3 AR's are
a bit unfriendly to solo ad sellers.

Alternatives are going to be developed
as the solo ad industry is only growing.
