How to send a free gift after opt-in

I'm in the process of creating a landing page with an email opt-in.

I want to automatically send a free gift (pdf) whenever someone signs up to my newsletter.

What's the best product or service for this?

Thanks

It doesn't matter. For many reasons, this really isn't the way to try to do it at all, and trying to do it this way will significantly reduce your recipient-count and subsequent open-rates. Attachment-bearing emails often don't reach in-boxes. You should send by email the download-link to the PDF, which you have hosted somewhere from which people can download it for themselves.

But don't give the download-link on your "thank you page": otherwise you're not using the "freebie concept" for one of its most important purposes in email marketing (checking that your intending subscribers are actually able to receive and open your email and click on your links, before they get it - otherwise what's the point?!).

its either you use it as your thank you page or you redirect from your thank you page to the pdf. secondly, you can use autoresponder. the first email in your email campaign which will be an email sent to them thanking them for subscribing should contain a link to the pdf you wanna give away

    Hey,

I agree with osamaye360 by just going ahead and including your download link on your thank you page. Depending on the deliverability of your autoresponder, I would still take the safe route and make my thank you page as my download page.

    Hope this helps!

I would agree with Alexa that you should send out the download link
in their email to make sure they are able to receive it. Sometimes, people
enter in fake or misspelled email addresses and once they realized they have
made a mistake, they go back and put in a authenic email address.

I see it happen a few times.

I've made a grave mistake of providing the download link on the
thank you page and paid dearly for it. Had to do quite a bit
of list hygiene to rid of unresponsive emails.

Keep learning and hang in there because it's worth it.

    I also agree with Alexa.

Always have the download link in the first auto responder message.

I use the open and click rate as one of my key performance indicators of the effectiveness of solos ads I buy along with the optin rate, tier 1 traffic and sales.

If you get a great optin rate but no one opens or clicks your emails then what is the point of buying that solo again? The funnel is just to get back some cost of the solo while the real money is made on you emails and the first email you send will usually have the highest open and click rate of any so it is perfect for this purpose.

    Hey bootstrapped,

Currently, I use GetResponse and with them, I have an autoresponse message set up that delivers a shared GoogleDoc of my free WSO.

Never had any problems with them, and would definitely recommend them to anyone! :-)

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

I use Aweber and Wordpress for and have a specific download page set up. I use the double opt in. When people click the "confirm their subscription" email they are then redirected to the download page on my website.

There are various plugins but I use download monitor which I find excellent.

I just send them the link in an email about a few minutes after they signup. That way as stated they have till enter the correct email to receive the free gift. And while they wait for that email they get exposed to an offer

I personally like to send the link in an email. You can have the PDF hosted on Amazon AWS for free. Then just include the link in your initial email that is sent automatically.

There are a couple of benefits to doing it this way.
    1. Your lead sees your email name and is familiar with it...leads to higher open rates down the line.
    2. If someone did enter a fake email, they will have to go back and enter a real email if they really want the PDF.

Of course, you'll still get some folks that will enter their email just to get the PDF and then unsubscribe...that's just part of the game

Yeah. What I personally would do is add the link to the welcome message ( which sends after the optin) then just send them to a OTO. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
