New Domain/Sub Domain and Complaint Rates

This is something I've yet to test, but I'm sure there is a right and wrong answer.

My question here is simply: are sub domains treated in the same way as new domains when using them as the "from address" in broadcast messages?

I've had it pretty much confirmed that adding in new domains (newdomain.com vs brandnewdomainl.com) to your autoresponder will increase deliver ability since the complaint rate is attached to the domain.

BUT my question is whether sub domains can be used in this way?

Example: newdomain.mydomain.com vs brandnewdomain.com

Are the complaints carried over across the entire domain thus affecting the sub domains or are sub domains treated as brand new domains when using them as the from address for email broadcasts?

This is one of my newer split tests I was going to try out but i figured I'd post this here first since I think it's a pretty good question.

Interesting observation. My guess is that it won't make much of a difference since the IP address/block would still be the same.
