Best email list for Wordpress?

I am working on building a email list for my blog, does anybody recommend a certain plug in or another site to embed the codes in wordpress?

Do you recommend a pop up when someone lands on the site and asks to enter your email? Or would that turn people away?

I used Mail Chimp for a while.

I only recommend Aweber or Getresponse. If you'd like to earn money, do the same things that people who are earning money are doing - I always say.

Take a look at your incoming emails - any lists that you are on - what company are they using?

And yes, I highly recommend popups... they're irritating, but they work. That's why you see 'em all over the place.

Do you have any examples of email lists I can subscribe to so I can see how they market their business?

I get emails from car dealers but they are rather annoying.

A bar of iron cost $5. Made into horseshoes, it's worth $12. Made into needles, it's worth $3500. Made into balance springs for watches, it's worth $300,000. Your value is determined by what you are able to make of yourself

It would clearly turn some people away (but might still be a good solution for you, in spite of that, because it might attract other people instead?).

Personally, I don't use pop-ups at all, and I think there's quite a lot of "misguided" thinking around, about them, from people who don't appreciate quite how many potential customers see a pop-up and don't come back, rather than otherwise returning later and opting in at their second visit. I think this point's very significant and widely dismissed by people who imagine (mistakenly) that if a pop-up opts in more uniques than not having the pop-up, then that somehow "proves" that you should be using it. It's all a little more complicated than it appears, and a lot more complicated than the pop-up enthusiasts typically claim.

Glad to see the past tense in that sentence.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

If you want to save your budget, I recommend MyMail Wordpress Plugin. You will keep your email list inside your wordpress. But you must have some customization in the first time you install it.
Or if you want to use more feature, more templates and reliable server. Just use Aweber or GetResponse

The email list is going to be used for my online pet store. What is a catchy phrase or message to have on the pop up email list to try and get people to sign up?

Since you're doing real business, don't try to find free stuff. To make solid money, you need to invest.

Are there any free plugins for wordpress for pop up lists? And ones that go across the home page at the bottom? Or even in the footer section? MailChimp doesn't offer anything.

Aweber is $1 for the first month, $20 for each additional month...

I recommend either GetResponse or Aweber for that one. Personally, I use Aweber as I know that I'm always paying the same amount - no matter how big my list is. GetResponse use light boxes, but I don't like them. I find them annoying and intrusive.

    Hope my opinion helps someone
