Personally for me, Aweber has always had some of the best deliverability of any of the AR's out there. SO they are my #1

My #2 and #3 are usually interchangeable... Ebizac and GetResponse. In my experience they don't deliver as well as Aweber, but still do the job.

I have tried other self hosted option out there and while they seem to be just as good as the other options, you usually have to have a much higher level of technical know how plus you really need to keep your domain out of the spam/blacklists out there. That's a full time job all by itself.

    As for me it's:
Aweber (aweber sports the best deliverability ratings on the market. If you’re primarily using online opt-in forms, use it)
    MailChimp and Constant Contact

    I dislike all free autoresponders.

It's better to pay with money than it is to pay in the ways the free ones have to make you pay, in order to be monetized themselves (which they are, at your expense).

I am trying to understand why you would want a free autoresponder when it is such a crucial part of your business?

Definitely do yourself a favor and pay the little bit of money to get a paid service!

You have to feel a bit sorry for the Cobra, here?

He asked a perfectly reasonable question, for someone who didn't know about this subject, asking for three free autoresponders, and out of his six replies, two are telling him (albeit correctly) to forget it and not use a free one at all, and the other four are recommending services that aren't free!

      I'm "just saying" ...

If considering free autoresponders I don't recommend any of them. I don’t think there is something good totally for free on the market. All good email marketing software have some limitations on free plan. For example:
    - Mailchimp - send up to 12000 emails to 2000 subscribers for free.
    - Freshmail - send up to 2000 emails to 500 subscribers for free.
    - Activecampaign - send up to 2500 subscribers for free.

    Aweber is no longer free.

Free Autoresponder? Just no.. you get what you pay for and you don't want to lose your list....

    Paid Autoresponder? Traffic Wave

Honestly it's a pain in the ass to learn.. it's not very user friendly.. but it's a fixed rate for unlimited list size and number of lists and good deliverability... granted it is a deductible expense; it saves me hundreds over pretty much any other autoresponder company for the size of my list..

..in reality I send most of my emails out from the servers my websites are on, but I still use an autoresponder as a backup source and a few of my lists...

To Build a solid business, you need autoresponder..

Free autoresponder are likely to give you what you want... imagine you lost 20k of your subscribers..

Paid subscription on other hand.. give you want you need..

      I suggest Infusionsoft..

I think the most promising free plan right now is from ActiveCampaign. That isn't for their self-hosted version though.

There is NO such thing as a free autoresponder. You either pay money or pay for lost sales. End of story.

Free auto responders are much more expensive than their paid counterparts.

Go with Get Response and get it free for the 1st month. Then, really, if you can't make your AR fee in a month you may wish to rethink IM.

      Thanks, Patrick

Definitely love MailChimp, it's been working well with few issues.
Nothing beats the analytics and flexibility of running your own email system though. Having access to your own IPs is critical and definitely lots of work to handle but it's soooooo worth it. We switched over and never looked back.

I think MAIL CHIMP but you are limted to 2000 people or subs.

If you cannot afford a proper autoresponder like GET RESPONSE or AWEBER, which only cost about $30 a month, then you do not really ready to have a business.

This is a small overhead, but email marketing alone is responsible for making us over $10k a month, so we do not CARE or have ONE CARE IN THE WORLD about spending even $100 per month to house all our members. :-)

I personally like MailChimp. I have never used any other providers but I am sure Aweber is also on top 3 list with GetResponse.

I just feel comfortable with Aweber. I know exactly what I'm getting and a team of Aweber and LeadPages is exactly what I need.

Free autoresponders feel amateur and untrustworthy. I couldn't use a free one for those reasons. You have to feel comfortable and know that your messages are actually going to be delivered and only Aweber and GetResponse give me that sense of security.

    Hope this helps

Hey, are you taking this business seriously?

If you do then you shouldn't be looking for free autoresponders. This is a real business. treat it as such and it will pay off.

However, look for Getresponse, they offer a 30 days free trial, 100 subscribers max. Go for it.

There is also Trafficwave, I like them for their pricing model, but man, their design is Ugly, sorry to say this but, When I used them, it was like using a software developed in 1999. I am not saying they are not good. Actually they have good deliverability rate, the owner is friendly, and an active warrior member.

If you're talking about the free ones than Mad Mimi is the only one I know about. One of my Clients uses it and they're pretty satisfied with it.

Please do not use any free autoresponders!

Learn from my headaches and mistakes!

This is a business and your subscribers are your greatest asset!

This is no time to be cheap!

My #1 highest recommendation is Aweber. It is only $1 for the first month.

Next, get a subscription with Leadpages.

These two tools will lead you to a 6 or 7 figure business.
