I send out a monthly Newsletter to everyone that has bought from me. I have a list of over 600+ now I see they are getting rejected for spam.

Both my businesses require I send out emails what do I do?

I also have started to run across - You have exceded your daily email limit

Go Daddy tells me I need to buy there Express Email Marketing

Any suggestions?

P.S. I am very new to this email marketing stuff.

  • You are most likely using the wrong tool. It's best to use a service
that is especially built to send that many emails--an email service
provider such as Aweber or Getresponse.

    • In addition to what Ray said, a professional mailing service often works very hard to keep their email service white listed and deliverable. So an email sent from your little unknown company may be quickly sent to the spam folder whereas an email from a respected company mailing service may have a better chance of getting through to the recipient.

  • I wouldn't go for the godaddy express email service if i were you.

As mentioned above get a good autoresponder account at either Aweber or Getresponse, you should be fine then.

The only problem though is that you'll have to upload your email list into the service and they'll need to confirm their subscription again, so you're bound to lose subscribers.

    • I'm kinda new here so I hate to flame you, but there is an entire forum here on email marketing.
  • Most email services like aweber and getresponse will make your list re-opt in.

icontact won't - they will allow you to attest that your list is all optin and let you import them.

Just don't lie - if your list doesn't act like they are happy to see your messages, they'll know it.
  • Make sure to use your name@yourwebsitename.com email instead of gmail email to make it go into the inbox.

  • My best advice to you... get far away from GoDaddy for anything other than simple domain name registration.

They are a horrid host targeted at beginner marketers.

If you want to get serious about things then you need the right tools... and GoDaddy certainly isn't.

  • Yes, GoDaddy is no good. Try something like Arvixe.
  • Professional email service like GetResponse or Aweber is a good start. Self hosted autoresponder is an advanced move that could help even more.
Further, if you want to minimize bounce rates and mails going to spam, simple try and engage your list. Ask specific questions. When emails YOU send get replied to, your deliver rate will skyrocket.

  • I don't think it has been said yet either that GetResponse can be used as a trial for 30 days for free and I believe Aweber is only 1$ for the first month. At those prices it doesn't make sense to keep getting your emails marked as spam

But they are right, you must get them to re-optin which is not always as easy as it sounds.
  • I agree with others that regular GoDaddy email (or "regular email" of any type) is not something you should be using to send out newsletters.

Some names mentioned above like AWeber and Get Response might be good options to consider if you need auto responder functionality.

If you just need to send newsletters and you have appropriate permissions from the recipients, you might also want to consider services like Mailchimp, Vertical Response, Constant Contact, etc.

Mailchimp and Vertical Response have some free options which just might be enough for what you need. For more info, see:
