The best way to clear the list of subscribers

Hi folks
I have a list of 15.000 of our customers collected for the last 5 years. Since I'm going to start up a newsletter, I would like to have some opinion on
1. What is the best way to send the invitation letter asking customers to subscribe? Some people say that the invitation letter has to be sent from our own server. Good idea but I really don't want to have our IP being banned for spamming.
2. Is there any kind of form or template for such a letter?

Any opinion would be highly appreciated

If you're going to send from your own IP address, make sure to clean your list first. There's a tool here available as WSO called listcleaner which might be helpful. This will ensure you don't send to bounced emails.

    Thanks, Jens
Didn't know about that tool. Any other advice? Are there any other tools available?

these customers are not in your autoresponder? then you technically don't have permission to email them, or have you been doing so recently? in both cases i would probably use sendblaster or some other bulk email sending software

This is not correct, at least in the USA. The fact that they are customers means he can contact them with a newsletter invitation.

Using a list cleaner is a good idea. So is using a service, but it could be something like Amazon's email service for SMTP.

As for the content, the best advice I can give you is to pick up a copy of Jeff Walker's Launch book and treat the newsletter launch like an event. Do a launch for it. If even 20% comes back from the list cleaner, you have a great start for a launch.

Don`t send if from your own IP, use services like Aweber or GetResponse , it`s a lot safer and very cost effective especially GetResponse
