Best Self-Hosted Email Autoresponder Platform?

My Aweber Autoresponder is costing me so much each month. Thought I have a big enough email list, it isn't as responsive as I would like. Thus, I don't make much more than the expense for hosting it each month. Thus the need to get my Autoresponders costs as low as I possibly can.

What is the best self-hosted email solution or platform that has the same deliverability rates, and ease of use as Aweber without all that cost? Any suggestions, recommendations etc greatly appreciated.

The best self hosted autoresponder is:

Sendy combined with Amazon SES - you lose out on an awesome email designer but you get all the features you want like broadcasts, autoresponders and lists.
Sendy also has features like reselling accounts to your clients and giving them limits etc.

Amazon SES is really cheap like $1 for every 10,000 emails sent. And it has high deliverability rates but there is more setup involved because you have to deal with things like: DNS, DKIM, SPF etc. things you don't normally have to deal with when you use things like aweber

    Sendy
    Amazon SES

WPMUDev has a Wordpress plugin that may do what you want, but I'm not sure it would be suited for a large list.

As a secondary suggestion...signup for Ben Settle's email list and start studying his techniques. It sounds more like you need to improve your email marketing skills than to find a cheaper option.

Nope ... the logic here is superficially reasonable but actually entirely incorrect.

You need to acquire list-building and list-communication skills to increase the open-rates, responsiveness, and click-through rates of your future subscribers, and to master the two key techniques of list-monetization ("continuity" and "subscriber expectation-setting") to build trust-based relationships with them, so that you can increase your income, not reduce your costs.

If you're using Aweber and have built a large list which isn't making you enough money, it's your skill-set that's the problem, not the technical services you're using.

Bad question for you, I'm afraid. (There are some possible answers, but as Barry rightly implies, just above, they're not actually going to help you or solve your problem. You haven't identified the problem correctly and are therefore seeking a solution for a different one that doesn't actually matter very much, by comparison. Sorry. ).

Thirdly, here are 6 posts about the fundamentals of email marketing which, between them, if you read them slowly and carefully enough, may change your perceptions of "what's going wrong for you at the moment", and re-orient you enough to try to decide what to do about it ...

Alexa is right... Aweber & Getresponse don't charge what they charge if list owners couldn't afford their fees. If you cannot pay your autoresponder fees out of your cash flow, then the problem isn't the quite minor cost of autoresponder services, but how you're working with your list.

All too many posters have identified 'free autoresponders' as a very bad choice... on something as critical to online marketers as their list - you can't rely on 'free'.

The only 'free' option would be to have your own server and autoresponder script - and that might seriously be more expensive and involved than you'd like.

How many lists are you on? I always recommend getting on other's lists, and watching them. That's how you can learn... by watching and figuring out what others are doing.

Totally Agree with Alexa and Ben.

The key is really having the skillset to make your list responsive and that way you can have higher open rates, higher CTR.

Actually Aweber and Getresponse have one of the highest deliverability these days, what the "cheaper" ones do not have... so you are paying for value here.

As what most people say in here... The problem is not in the provider, it's how you work with your list. And I really don't have to mention this, but there you go!

I could provide you infrastructure at Mailingboss.com.
Self hosted e-mail platforms can be hard if you don't know what you are doing. You need to set up everything correctly so it won't land into subscribers spam folder.
Also my platform has everything you need, autoresponders and etc.

You can have your own mandrill server what I will configure for you. Mandrill let's you send 12 000 e-mails for free and after that it's 0.20 $ per thousand mail, meaning:
sending 100 000 mails would cost you 20$

So basically we could work out a deal.

Let me know if you are interested.
