How did you build your list?

Hey guys,

I've built my list through forum advertising, through signatures and threads.
It's not so big, around 500 subscribers right now.

Would be great if you could share your methods on how you got your subscribers and how much you've got through that method,
Thanks!

Using funnel clicks can be your great solutions.. Or you can try clickbanking. Forum traffic using your signature is one of the best evergreen free traffics in my opinion.

MMO niche works well with free WSO's, any other niche is difficult for me unless I use Youtube.

Solo ads tend to work quite well for building lists on a short amount of time. Try buying a solo ad from a blogger who is similar to your niche that has a mailing list, and see what happens.

Depends on how quickly you want to build this list. If you want it fast,

    1. Solo Ads: Solo ads will work magic for your niche list building. Tips, always find testimonials man and never buy cheap.

    2. FACEBOOK: Dude, facebook will blow your mind if you do it right. It's amazing how precisely you can target your leads. Seriously, it's even kinda scary that Facebook knows this much about us.

    3. I hear Youtube also works well,, but I haven't tried paid it yet.

    Free traffic.
    1. Forum posting.
    2. Blogging. If you blog, please use Popup Domination. You will get like a zillion more subscribers, because the interrupt at the beginning has been tested to be quite powerful. I got into email marketing through blogging, so i know what works and what doesn't with blogs. Also, you may want to place some opt-boxes (even if just one) within your post itself.

Place this strategically at some point in your post where you know readers will be hooked. I personally tend to be a little silly sometimes, so I'd place this at some point where I know I made some silly remark that would make the reader laugh.

Same can apply to the video edit in Youtube; they allow you to choose the time where your message/link appears on the video right? So make it pop when you've just said something silly or delivered extreme value i.e. solve a problem.

Anyhow, bottom-line if I had a few hundred dollars to spend right now, I'd definitely spend them on some good solos.

And for even more perpetual traffic, integrate with other people's products.

      Hi,

I´m using Google Alert Marketing and FB notes to build a list...It really works great.

Traffic will be send to my free offer, ebook, webinar or something similar and after subscribing I send them to a related cpa offer (Zip/email/phone offers).

It is quite fast, and easy to do.

FB Notes and Google Alert Marketing...is my main traffic sources a long with some other free methods...

I totally agree with you, solo ads and forum posting is great for IM the other alternatives are good as well. Another good method is advertising on Warrior forum

The best ways to build a list in IM is with WSO's and IM products. Also Facebook ads works if you have it down pat... a key thing that has worked for me is in using video to process that message across to people. Video - Screen Capturing and powerpoint are my best friends.

I'd definitely say solos, and facebook are probably the most newbie friendly.

I haven't tried leadserve, but I've been interested in it. I've been hearing some really good things about it. Gotta like the pay per lead program they have.

In the past, I've build a list of a few thousands with article marketing. The link in my signature sent people right away to my optin form. I had a lot of articles out there, in the thousands.

Today, I build my lists with solo ads. Wso's are great to build a buyers list.

    Hello Joe,

I just recently watched an interview with a marketer who is using Kindle books to build his list. What he does is offer his readers the opportunity to get more information on the topic and sends them to his opt-in page.

Sounds pretty brilliant. I'd think that someone who joins your list from an e-book they purchased is a qualified buyer and really interested in what else you have to offer.

Facebook. It's absolutely ridiculous how targeted you can get with FB, they know WAY too much about us. Minority Report style ads really can't be that far away. Honestly, the ones that are on FB are pretty much that, just without the part where the ads talk to you directly. But as far as getting leads and conversions, it's the bomb!

I use Bing Ads currently right now to send users to a squeeze page for a CPA offer (in the weight loss niche). This is has been pretty successful so far, I've gotten about a 22% opt-in rate so far!

As other members have posted, Facebook ads is a great way because you can really target the perfect audience, and if you have a good ad, it is cheap!

    Best of luck!

Tons of ways. The moment when I ventured into paid advertising was the moment everything changed for me. That being said...

    1) Solo Ads
    2) social advertising
    3) banner advertising
    4) content marketing
    5) doc sharing sites
    6) forums.

    By far my top choices.

I like to do a bit of lead capturing from:

    - FB
    - Click banking
    - Youtube
    - Solo ads
    - "Guest Blogging"
    - Forum posting is something I need to work on more, guilty!

The important thing is to have many eggs in your basket and work on trying to get as close to 100 FREE subs per day.

A nice squeeze page, a Free report and an OTO can go a long way if you promote them in the right places.

I find these method highly effective as I combined them with Pay-Per-Lead Programs (Is like CPA Offers) and Adsense to the mix.

... And after your subs went through your e-mail follow-up series, you can even start selling Solo Ads from your own list.

    I hope it helps!

I built a 320 person list in the last 24 hours from scratch with a single contest giving away a $35 tech gadget. The last time I did this, it got about 1400 emails in the 30 day contest period. I've implemented some lessons learned and should get close to 2000 this time around.

It really depends on the market. There is no magic bullet or one size fits all answer. The best way to test and measure were you have the best results.

The main factor in connecting with your audience is finding out where they are hanging out. You can spend a lot of money on facebook without any results, because your prospects are on linkedin. Strangely enough I had thousands of people sign up to a site without ever even promoting it. The responsiveness of your list weighs more than the size.

It totally depends on your budget and your offers you have.

If you have money the best way to invest into your business is through paid advertisement.

This can be done through the following : Solo Ads, PPC, Banner Ads

If you don't you will have to rely on "free" marketing will cost your time.

This can be done through the following : Forum Posting, Video Marketing, Blogging, Guest Blogging.

If you decide to go the paid route it is important to know if your offer converts and your funnel converts.

If you decide to go free method, it's important to be consistent as well know your funnel converts.

It's a good idea to use popups. You will probably agree that the term “popup” does not have positive associations for most people. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It sometimes seems as though popups are a kind of battleground where marketers try to get attention and email users do everything possible to end the conversation before it even starts.
Read more here: Newsletter popups - use it right please!
