Aweber Confirmation Pendings

I'm using aweber and currently 30% of my subscribers are in the "confirmation pending" state meaning for whatever reason they did not click on the confirmation email after subscribing.

A rep told me this was about average, but I'm really surprised how high this is. You guys seeing about the same amount?

    Wouldn't know.

    I'm a dedicated single opt-in guy.

I'll be emailing to those 30% you can't touch...

If double is not the way to go, why are all the biggest marketer's going double opt in?

        They're probably not.

Just the ones who make the most noise. The ones with IM-related products to sell you. They're the same ones who are teaching people that "it's fairly normal to have an open-rate of 20%".

Many of the alleged arguments widely adduced in favor of opt-in confirmation are based on flawed logic.

From my own experience I have NOT found this to be true, whatsoever.

Maybe you ran into a minority of big online marketers and this is what they said.

But I have found after talking to MANY across the board that they are single Optin all the way !

Nope, you won't be. At least 5-15% of all web form submissions bounce the very first time you email them. Your single opt-in list is hitting all of them repeatedly along with all the other "valid" typos, bots and similar addresses that get entered but not validated by using single opt-in.

Just like, http://www.warriorforum.com/email-ma...ber-email.html there's a lot to know with email marketing and we don't just strongly recommend it be used for no reason.

The 30% number is high and there are likely numerous things that could be optimized to improve that rate but you'll never get it lower than that 5-15% number that I quoted above because all data coming from web forms is dirty and there's nothing you can do to prevent it except use confirmed opt-in. Hard to give specific pointers about improving your process without seeing the landing page.

Even the big marketers use single opt in as well as double opt in. If you build a relationship with your subscribers, it won't matter. I have noticed that most will use double opt in for their buyers list and single opt in for their lead pages.

Hmm looking around I was noticing pat flyn and dereck halpern both used double. I did not look around more than that as they seem to be two of the biggest.

I think you have that mixed up. No one in their right mind is going to double optin a buyers list.
