Hi Warriors!

How often should you e-mail your subscribers?

Is emailing everyday a good thing? What's your opinion on this?

Thank You.

      Hi,

Personally I would email my list every other day. Providing them with a mixture of advice and promoting affiliate links. It is vital to remember its equally if not more important to look after your current list than to acquire a new member to your every growing list.

      REMEMBER THIS.....

Look after your list and your list will look after you....

      Lol...just no.

I can see once daily as being reasonably the highest frequency acceptable.

You're talking about email overwhelm which kills your subscriber base and there's no way you're providing value with every email sent "every few hours".

I'll just pretend you said "every few days" and roughly agree with you

Email as often as you feel comfortable with or as often as you discover the subscribers are comfortable with. If they don't like your emails they will let you know by opting out.

There are many ways to send email. It really depends on how they opted in, niche, goal of emailing, etc. In general there is no right number.

I personally unsubscribe from any list where I am emailed more than twice a week.

Quite frankly most IMers only email their list to sell affiliate products, not to provide any real value. That's why they email everyday because they are always promoting some crap.

And then there's all the emails you get from other IMers to whose lists you NEVER subscribed. Of course the nice IMer you gave email to has sold your details on.

This is why I love posting to my forum. Subscribers can click NOTIFY and be sent anything new sent from that board automatically. With the use of a good signature your efforts are rewarded.

I first start of daily then slowly minimize my email frequency.
I would say around 2 a week or less.

        ^^ This is exactly right.

There's not a magic number, it all depends on your users' expectations, which you should work to set up front. I suppose I can imagine a situation where mailing your users every day would be appropriate, but it's definitely an edge case and as so many have pointed out here not good general advice.

I'd also mention that if you've got the bandwidth and a good use case, it's reasonable to have multiple lists that email at different frequencies. We currently operate three different lists, each targeted at different types of users and sent on different schedules. One is the general list, one is for people interested in a certain program of ours and a third is our press list, which consists of people who've either signed up for our press alerts (often small-time bloggers) or reporters with whom we have a good relationship. Needless to say, the last list is used infrequently and only when there's something truly worthy of announcing.

    Email them daily.

If you are providing your list with valuable content they are going to be more than happy to open your emails.

If you are spamming them daily they won't to receive your emails.

Email value emails 5 times a week and sell hard 2 times a week.

When giving value make sure you give massive value and when you sell make sure you sell hard.

Think it from your point of view: if you like someone's content would you like he sent you emails everyday?

    Cheers

If they know ahead of time, that's different. That list expects it.

But as general advice to a marketer who isn't specifying, every day is too much. There will always be anomalies, I suppose I should have specified

If you read trust marketing, you understand that you have to treat your subscribers with respect.

Jay Abraham talks about his strategy of preeminence, when he states that you must be your subscribers "Trusted Advisors".

So everyday would be optimal, but to be fair at least every 3 days you should send out an email. These emails should be extremely helpful of course. 70% of your emails should be giving value, and 30% should be selling.

Follow top moguls and get on their lists. It's a good way to study email marketing tactics.

I'm going to say no more than 4 times a week. I'm not talking about blasting your list with affliate products or anything, I'm talking strictly relationship building here.

Everyday would be too much, like everyone else is suggesting. You would end up getting a lot of low click rates because not everyone would keep up with your daily emails.

But what do I know, If you had an extremely responsive list, who knows? I'm sure some Marketer is mastering it right now.

There's no right or wrong answer to this question. One guy i know said "email however often you have something *important* to say". I still dont know what that means, but i took matters into my own hands and tested everyday, every 3 days, and every 7 days. When i emailed everyday to my list, i made the most money this way. Do a good test yourself with some targeted traffic, and find what works best for you.

It depends but there is a lot of fuzz going on about only mailing your list a few times a week.

Personally I email mine a couple of times per day and it works fine actually.

This needs testing and tweaking imo.

My husband used to work for a software company that managed other company's email marketing and FB campaigns. They would tell their clients that more than 4x a week was overkill, people would simply tune out what they were getting. But you know, they were the ones having to do all the work, so maybe they just wanted to limit their workload. No, but seriously, if I got an email from someone 3x a DAY, I'd press unsubscribe in a heartbeat. So don't overdo it!

Emailing once a day or twice a day ?? What are you nuts ?? Are you crazy ??

Nobody should do that because you will burn your List out and make NO money at all !

How dare you mention such a ludicrous notion !

      LMAO

Ahh, the "Internet Marketing School of Myth" is alive and well on this Thread .

Can doing it every day burn out a List ? Yes in some cases.

Can doing it every day fill your pockets with unfathomable amounts of money ? Yes in some cases.

There is no right or wrong here.

Each List is a different Entity.

What Expectations you set from the git go with your Subscribers will be your answer to this question.

(Btw, believe it or not there are MANY multi-millionaire Email Marketers who email 3 or more times a day to their List as they told them they were going to do that.)

Kind of a side track, but still relevant.

I used to run or moderate several email discussion lists. With these lists came two options - either each message was sent as soon as it was approved, or people could get a daily digest, a single daily email with all of the day's posts.

Guess which one was most popular?

Kind of a trick question, as it was pretty much an even split. Some people liked the immediacy of the conversation, others liked to get the flow in one message. We had a bunch of loyal subscribers under each option.

        Different strokes for different folks.

(Side note to the side track: one of the big rewards for making valuable contributions over time was the chance to have your messages go to the list unmoderated. It actually became a point of pride to have the little "Unmoderated" tag attached.)

There is no hard and fast rule.

Determining frequency is something that can be tested once you have decided what you are trying to accomplish.

Start by asking yourself questions about your goals/your product/offers, etc... Create a marketing calendar and use the calendar as your foundation. You can test and tweak from there.

One of the things I always look at is the engine driving new subscribers. If you are buying a lot of paid media and new subscribers to your list you have more opportunity to segment out a group and try riskier things like increased frequency (because retention may not be that big of an issue).

If on the other hand your goal is retention you may go a bit less frequent, but this all depends on a number of factors.

You may mail with higher frequency in the first week or two then scale back and then ramp up again during specific campaigns.

I can tell you from an in-depth study I conducted in 2013 of several major mailers across a range of verticals many were mailing daily, but most frequently bi-weekly. These companies had expansive product lines and spent considerable money driving new subscriptions.

In another recent project we had a goal of increasing email channel sales by 66% within three months. The obvious solution to me in that case where they were mailing twice a month was to increase the frequency. After increasing the frequency to two and three times a week with various informational and commercial mailings we easily surpassed the sales goal.

However, there was a price to be paid. Though the list was increasing in profitability we were losing list subscribers rapidly and the engine driving subscriptions was not keeping up with the unsubs. Additionally, spam complaints were increasing even though we made it very easy for people to unsubscribe (BTW: I have never seen a case where higher frequency did not result in more spam complaints).

If you are dealing with larger lists spam complaints can seriously affect deliverability. And...if your emails aren't getting delivered, they aren't getting read.

Again though, I closely monitor the reports and adjust the campaigns based on what I am seeing in the reports.

If you have the time or resources you should also segment your list. You will find frequent buyers who are your "Whales" who can be segmented out, mailed with greater frequency, and are a great group to build specific campaigns for ie...VIP customers, etc...

You can also do that with other segments of your list if you can cross reference their purchase history and gain insights about other types of campaigns they might respond to or would be relevant to them.

I would usually email my list at lest twice a week. If I have very good offer or special promotion that I need to email them immediately, I will slot one email in to make it 3 times a week.

But on most weeks, just twice a week.

There is no hard and fast rules to this. That is my preference. You have to set the rules on how often you email them and have your subscribers get use to it.

I would email them everyday or every other day just to keep your name fresh in their minds. If you wait to long to email your subscribers they forget about you. Just because your emailing them often doesn't mean it has to be a promo all the time though. You can email them anything from tips to something you want to recommend to them ( like a good movie) or just a hey happy friday but you should email often enough as not to let them forget you. You can also place a webpage address or a p.s. at the end your emails with a clickable link to promote without promoting

    It depends. In my opinion:

When you sell something, you shouldn't sent emails more than twice a week.
When your subcribers really wants get email for you - once for a day is reasonable. No more.

I found a interesting article about how to reduce the numer of people who sing off your list.

I think it all depends on your work, if your running a web site, so when ever you have n update you have to mail to your subscribers, rest if your selling any thing then you have to mail them when ever any new offer comes. So you cant set any time limit.

This is popular question. Its depend. Some people they send daily.. or one email in 2 days, 3 days and one every week. I felt comfortable with 3 days per email. Unless you have many thing to share with your subscribers, you could send it daily. I treat email like a blog post.. try to give a great content each time broadcast. Sending way too much promotions is not my style. You could test which one best for you, because there are no right answer for this question.

Depends on what you are personally comfortable with. I think an important point is to give great value & then use the 70/30 rule for selling.

The other day I was reading an assertion by Matt Bacak and that he sometimes will go ' easy' on his List and have an email where he sends out just quality free content. And the next email is a hard sale.

The free content email was sent in the morning and the hard sale email later in evening. So much for going 'easy ' on his list

Disclaimer : Of course when you are spending upward to 150K on solo ad traffic a month , this may not be applicable to many people here.
